Isn't that loan from Birmingham Council the reason why their T20 team is called Birmingham rather than Warwickshire?
I don't think anybody straight up admits that, but my understanding is the council "nicely" asked Warwickshire to change the name while simultaneously waving the loan agreement in their faces.
Which is ridiculous by the way. Me and my missus were both born in other parts of Warwickshire, and that name is an insult to many. They have Birmingham Phoenix now so can the T20 name just go back to Warwickshire please?

There is a salary cap in the counties so you don't have the wage differential like between City and Luton. Sussex salary is mid table .
What evidence source do you have for that ?

Rugby clubs (Worcester, Wasps) have gone to the wall post Covid. Sussex would have been one club in cricket expected to struggle. But it seems the bigger ones have had for more issue.

Sussex was always among the least of the counties. Yet financially they seem okay. The priority is keeping the club in healthy shape.

Strategically, on the field, there may have been some errors. But I would support any club who lays its foundations on continuity.

The problem is there are too many keyboard warriors these days who know nothing of the inner workings. They just want success for their egos. It's a shame they are so loud.

We all want things to work out for them. But the first thing to do is buy a membership. If folk put bugger all into the club then I don't see why their caps lock criticism should have any weight at all.

If we have to be careful with money why on earth were we employing 4/5 overseas players when in addition to big salary flights and acccomadation has to be payed.

A question about membership. The So Legal Executive Membership is £450. I can't establish if that is just to get into that area (pretty expensive) or whether that covers entry into the games and entry to that area (about £70 above normal price for full membership in that case).

If the £450 included ground entry I'd buy one.

Sussex CCC fans need to have done what we did. Occupy the members' enclosure, force out the directors, replace the board, totally change the club from within. But they didn't. My stepfather, a life member, is buried in the outfield and I have always taken a passing interest. If SCC fans cared about Sussex like BHAFC fans do the Albion, this wouldn't be happening, would it?
People are voting with their bank accounts. Lowest membership uptake ever.

What frustrates me is that we have been told to suffer the crap performances as we are blooding young players with a view to the future.

If we are then letting go of the good young players, why bother in the first place?
They're cheap.

Just far enough away from LDC
I'm not sure saying sussex cricket has ever been better is a sensible quote.

I think the playing poverty card also is hard to understand given 3 years ago we had the misfiring galacticos in t20 which caused animosity with the one day cup/cc teams. It was poor strategy which i am sure farbrace wouldn't allow.

I trust farbrace, jury is out on Filby. Greenfield has been involved in most of the poor issues. What cant be disputed is the number of controversial departures. There is conjecture around a significant number of NDAs too

And membership is at an all time low i believe. There will be a point where comms need to improve and greater transparency /accomodate and manage better some difficult situations. Funny how we have so many difficult players who need managing out

Filby was instrumental in recruiting Farbrace and has confirmed on radio this evening that the Board have given the Head Coach autonomy on cricketing matters in a move that comes across as a progressive, confident and competent piece of management. A far cry from the days when the professionals at the sharp end had to seek approval from a meddling Committee Room. Farbrace is not short of trusted advisors when he needs them. Greenfield, BTW, is now doing an excellent job of running the Academy and other emerging player development projects. He has, by the current Board, been managed back into his most (track)suited role that benefits Sussex Cricket. The mistake of rewarding his previously excellent work in the same role by over-promoting him, was made by Rob Andrew's predecessor.

That’s a great purchase and seems great value
I've been looking at it for a while now and wondering about it. It seems the perfect place to sit with a good book on an afternoon. Could even take the laptop and do some work there if I had to.

I've long said to myself to put my money where my gob is where Sussex are concerned. I love cricket and I love my Sussex, whatever shit they are there in. So I've done it now.

Is there a way you can pay a bit more and watch them lose in less formats from further away?
Live stream, perhaps. Watch from the comfort of your front room.

Farbrace is a breath of fresh air. He won’t tolerate idiots and Orr’s agent is one. He’s been badly advised and Farbrace won’t accept it or the way Orr tried to hold the club to ransom.

He’s looking to build a squad that will compete next season, he was told the staff and wage bill needed to be reduced to allow him to bring in the quality of player he’s looking for. The players released to date will allow exactly that to happen and gives him the scope to bring in quality replacements.

I think people’s attitudes will change when the next overseas player is announced (who will also be captain) I’m also aware of 2 or 3 quality additions that are in talks with Farbrace who will improve us greatly.

As for Matt Prior mouthing off on social media, this is the guy that still holds a grudge as he couldn’t afford for his kids to stay on the pathway when he was declared bankrupt and felt he had a God given right not to pay like all the other parents have to.
