None of those as we are at football I would suggest the Norman Wisdom version.

We're the team from Brighton
Brighton by the sea
11 players and a crowd
that 'll roar them to victory
so shout you fans lets hear you roar
Goal(clap hands)
for were going up and will will win the cup
Its Brighton now for sure.

We're the team from Brighton
Hove by jove thats us
we are always fair
and never swear
but now its s..t or bust
so shout you fans lets hear you roar
Goal
Clap your hands untill the're soar
for we're going up to win the cup
its Brighton now for sure.

I think they are the correct words but if not I am sure somebody will correct me.

They could also show the video of him performing it at The Goldstone.

The disadvantage with this particular version is that it does not feature the words 'Good' 'Old' 'Sussex' 'By' or 'Sea'. It does feature 'The', so not a total wipeout.

If this goes ahead, there will be uproar and haughty derision in the Family Stand when the incorrect words are put on the big screen.

"ha ha ha where's 'going up to win the cup', clueless"

I do think that this could be an issue where too many people sing "and we're going up to/and win the cup". I think it will be hard work changing them, hence I have chosed D but B is also fine by me.

Not sure why anyone would actually give a thumbs down to this idea. It won't happen but that clip of Norman conducting the crowd always brings a tear to my eye. Personally I'm going for B.

Version A with a review in 2019/2020 to switch to Version B as the Centenary of WW1 will then be over.

I know I'm going to get slated, but I'd prefer lyrics that are relevant to this Century rather than to 1907 when kids weren't sent to school but got sent to glass making factories and women didn't have the vote!

The old lyrics are completely irrelevant to most fans (including female fans) and players and it would be great to modernise the lyrics to something that's relevant to Sussex today.

Something relevant to Sussex today????
What like sitting in traffic, high property prices and living next to Londoners? :D

Nothing wrong with history, shame on you , move to Kent :bigwave:

I voted "A" as It contains my favourite lines, but am hugely happy with the consensus around "B".

Can BG's version be added as option "E"...?
No, because there is a chance that people using tracker pads or touch screen devices would accidentally vote for it.

I have selected A, but B is a good compromise.

All this talk of winning cups has to stop. I may have been singing about it for 40 years, but let's face it, it's not in our DNA to be a cup winning team.

Voted for A as it word be nice for more of the words to be used and known, and for it to be more of a moment prior to kick off. Happy with B if that's the concensus.

Is that such a bad thing? What you are saying is I dont like it so wont give that option.

Coz we've got 4 versions, all of which are based on either the correct words or with words that are regularly sung. If you start adding random versions that no-one knows, it ends up with too many options and risks the poll not giving a decent result.
