They've got to put it back to how it should be then. It is no good if we do not get to sing the 'you may tell them all, that we'll stand or fall' lines. Unless we replace the section before the (all together now) in your lyrics so it now reads:

Now is the time for marching
Now let your hearts be gay
Hark to the merry bugles
Sounding along our way
So let your voices ring my boys
And take your time from me
and I'll sing you a song as we march along
of Sussex by the Sea

Oh, Sussex, Sussex by the sea
Good old Sussex by the Sea
You may tell them all that we stand or fall
For Sussex by the sea

(All together now...)

Good old Sussex by the Sea
Good old Sussex by the Sea
Oh we're going up and we'll win the Cup
For Sussex by the Sea

Not sure if this fits though with the new version they are playing. I stand by what I said before though, they should play the original version so we can sing the first two verses as they have always been.

I love the 'stand or fall' lines... but I think we would really struggle to get the average punter (and some of the are decidedly average!) not to sing the 'going up' words at that point.

Like Flynn, I'm in!

It would be great if we
a) sang more of the song
b) sang it at the right speed

I don't think the soldiers in the video clip are singing the right words - it's hard to hear exactly what's being sung but it doesn't sound like "Now is the time for marching, now let your hearts be gay..."

I'm all for joining in the singing though. Let's have the lyrics on the big screens

Yea and I didnt hear them sing "and we're going up to win the cup" oh well:shrug:

.

If that fits what they are playing, then that is spot on IMO

Palace fans will love that bit.

They sing 'Glad all Over', camp as a row of pink tents (in black and white)

I've come back home.
They are the Lancashire Hussars.

When they get to the last verse, they confess:-

"You can tell them all that we know f*** all of Sussex By The Sea".

Just to be an old stick in the mud they also sing 'the finest cavalry', this is a version specifically for them.

Indeed: these are the 14th/20th Kings Hussars, a Lancashire regiment. The story goes that in 1801 the then 14th Light Dragoons were in Kent and their band were too drunk to go on parade. To help them out, the 35th (Royal Sussex) Regiment band took their place and ever since, their regimental march – firstly "The Royal Sussex" and later, "Sussex by the Sea", has been played by 14th/20th Kings Hussars.

So what, those are the words, sing them with emotion & sing them with pride!

We only get one verse now. They've changed it (for the better in my opinion). Plus it only really needs to last long enough for the teams to walk out and shake hands down the line.

I suggest:

Now is the time for marching
Now let your hearts be gay
Hark to the merry bugles
Sounding along our way
So let your voices ring my boys
And take your time from me
and I'll sing you a song as we march along
of Sussex by the Sea

Good old Sussex by the Sea
Good old Sussex by the Sea
And we're going up to win the cup
For Sussex by the sea
