Sussex-born Chelsea fans - are they turning to the Albion?

Obviously, this is not exactly scientific. But I am interested to know whether anyone knew any fairweather Chelsea fans who are wavering in their allegiance to them after yesterday's thumping win. Any anecdotes welcome!

I'm guessing that schoolkids would be the age group most likely to turn their backs on Messrs Terry, Cole etc after watching Buckley and Vicente run rings around them...

I would have thought that some must be. We are cheaper, probably easier to get to, and a great day out. They can still go to Chelsea for European games or if Albion are away from home.

There is a kid who plays tennis in Preston Park. Last year, he was playing in his Chelsea kit. This year he wears a Brighton kit and Chelsea has been relegated to the rucksack.

spoke to the guys around the corner who went, and No, they are not suddenly becoming Brighton fans, however they were all of the opinion that Vicente is the best player they have seen for ages and can't believe he has signed for us again. One comment was " you can have frank and mikel as a swap".

Just saw a few lads coming out of the Co-op in Lancing, one was wearing a Brighton shirt and was giving some (deserved) stick to a kid in Chelsea shorts! Marvellous scenes.

Was a bloke in the.shop yesterday after the game. Had a Chelsea shirt on with Oscar on the back. Clearly recently done. Anyway there he was in the queue purchasing a Brighton shirt.

Spoke to a confessed Chelsea fan who has seen the light and converted to us. Very nice chap, who's family is from London and all had historically supported Chelsea. He had also had a season ticket for years, but moved to Brighton a couple of years ago and decided to follow his local team. He enjoyed the first year at The Amex so much, he has bought a season ticket and is now reborn...... ;-)

I do realise not Sussex born, but seemed relevant.....

I cannot believe any true Chelsea fan would ever switch sides but for those parents that have kids and have moved to the area then surly the kids should be allowed to support their local side-

This applies to Palace too

So for all all Sussex based Palace fans that have moved to this area i say this-you cannot stop them merely guide them and at the moment i can here the cries now-

Mum Dad i no longer support Palace i want to follow Brighton like all my mates......roll it on because we are not going away..

They're not chelsea fans anyway, just football fans who,ve never seen a football stadium and of whom love skysports:)

Pointless debating football fans who don't go to matches.

The only 2 Sussex based (definetly born in 1 case not sure about the other) are Chelsea season ticket holders and have been for 10+ years (might be much more) so definetly not what I would call plastics.

Amazing as this may seem, the only two Chelsea fans I know are both from West London and both born within spitting distance of Stamford Bridge. Both have been Chelsea for donkeys years, even when they were utter dogshite when Kerry Dixon was one of their star players.

Not talked to him yesterday, but have a mate who's dad is a dyed-in-the-wool Chelsea fan for 20+ years, who still considers himself a Chelsea fan and goes to a lot of games. But since Poyet took over he's been going to an increasing amount of games at the Amex, going to roughly the same number as he did Chelsea games last season.

Likes the ground, it's cheaper for him than going to Chelsea and he prefers our style of football to that of Chelsea's.

Of course they are Chelsea fans. As long as they like Chelsea, for whatever reason, even if it's because blue is their favourite colour, they are Chelsea fans. If they don't go to games and like Chelsea, then they're just Chelsea fans, not Chelsea supporters.
