[Albion] Surely we must have some decent free kick takers in this squad?

what is Dunks record. Has he ever hit the target
That depends on what the target is.

If it's the goal - then no.

But

If the target is the face of the fella stood 3rd left in the wall - then 100% accuracy.

Shirley the all-powerful (or not) algorithm could specifically target some transfer, er, targets, whose speciality is free kicks, even if they're maybe slightly less well-developed in other areas of their game. Be More Chippy

How about a little rotation here!? What can go wrong, no one is a Mihailovic or even a JWP anyway? Let Enciso, Fati, Adingra or a fit Pedro have a go. Same goes with corners, kind of tired to wait 30-40 sec for Gross to run from the other side of the pitch when Mitoma or Adingra already is there by the ball. Adingra took some corners in the African Cup, he can do it here too. I prefer a more quick-ish corner, little time for the opponents to get organized. I also assume it's harder to defend if you don't know what they're going to do. Create some chaos! It's seldom someone score from free-kicks and corners anyway.

I’m not sure what Dunk is trying to achieve knock the man in the wall out? It worked once at Liverpool when he took it before they had got into position.
That was completely different……..he spotted a gap. He’s now trying the knuckleball/rapidly dipping kick which he’s clearly been hitting well in training (otherwise he wouldn’t be taking them) but getting maybe one every three games or so to try it in ‘real life’ is looking like a very tall order to score. Guess he will eventually, and statistically I imagine 1 in maybe 15 or 20 direct free kicks from that range go in (unless you’re Ward-Prowse) so he’ll probably be within that

You can probably also let Ferguson have a go, forgot to mention him above. Low in confidence now, I know, but he knows where the goal is and have some touch. Those goals he's scored is just wow!

What I don’t understand is the insistence on the straight run up knuckle ball technique. In the training videos you see Lewis perfectly striking long range curling shots. Why can’t we mix it up in terms of taker & technique. All very predictable at the moment. Even if he beats the wall the keeper knows what to expect.

I can’t remember who it was against but it was a home game a while ago and Welbeck took one which hit the bar. Don’t think he’s had another go since

A lot of our play is (too) predictable. I wonder what RDZ meant when he said that his "players follow him and his training very well...maybe too much".
If we don't mix it up and the players don't take more responsibility for that on the pitch...I fear we could stagnate.
Enormous effort must be put into the training to learn the "de Zerbi way" - maybe there's little energy/ confidence left to break from that sometimes.

Free kicks and set pieces have huge room for improvement.

Again, Dunky must be nailing them in training to be continually given so many.

Enciso looked primed last night. I think (based on never having seen him take a free kick, but with a view that he strikes cleanly) he should be first choice
