Surely Sepp Blatter must go, NOW? Reports Russia had 2018 BEFORE votes took place

He knows he is going down, making sure he takes as many with him as possible.

There is no way the WC can go to Qatar in 22 now.

Nor to Russia in 2018, if FIFA has any intention of making right its errors.

Or maybe we're all going to awkwardly pretend nothing is wrong and play in it still.

I think FIFA is a lost cause, the priority is that UEFA's house is in order so we can have a Euro Champs with a degree of integrity.

Blatter did not expand on who exactly had 'agreed' for Russia to be hosts, but claimed the crisis in FIFA had been prompted by England and the USA being 'bad losers' as a result of their World Cup bid failures.

so let me get this right, the crisis was caused by England and US asking some probing questions because they were bad losers? not by the corruption itself, but by it being uncovered. incredible.

The corruption that was bought to light years ago by the British press and brushed under the carpet by the cronies at FIFA all claiming 'sour grapes'? There needs to be an initiative started by the US, England, all of the home nations, maybe Australia and a few other nations who have been royally f**ked by Blatter's FIFA to form a new governing body. Sadly will never happen.

Have you seen the list of candidates to replace him? It looks like a list of candidates for the board of a dodgy investment bank, specialising in importing counterfeit Levis, made by children in Mexico :ffsparr:

Exactly this, but you can be guaranteed that there isn't one country with the balls to be the first to walk away from FIFA.
No one has to be the first, they can meet and agree to do it together.

Like bankers, they seem to operate outside the law.
It's not often that someone is grossly unfair on bankers, but you've managed it.

Let's hope it is that simple-who is going to break ranks first to set up a meeting?

FIFA has brought the game into disrepute. An organisation that is totally corrupt at the top, I fail to see how any of the candidates for Blatter's position will change this. A new president was come in from outside the current FIFA hierarchy to have any credibility at all, and the current top officials should ALL go.

The Russia and Qatar World cups should be declared invalid, and if we must, even not have a WC in 2018 if they cannot sort out an alternate. Qatar should be revoked immediately, that contest doesn't exist for me anyway.

Blatter is going down, maybe by taking everyone else down with him he may finally do football a favour.

hard for us to fathom but you've got to understand or even respect that other countries and cultures do not see anything wrong, genuinely, with such practices. Their brains are wired differently. Don't mean in a negative way. Just factually. The only way sustainable solution would be to host a Western European and North American cup. That might have a fighting chance of anti corruption but even then. And of course it wouldn't be a World Cup would it. Best to try and remember it's just entertainment and that's all. Fairness doesn't come into it by the large. Be that corruption, or set up of a vertical playing field that's the antithesis of level.

National news seems to be giving as much coverage about the FIFA election candidacy as it is about the 'shock' revelations of the predetermined russian. vote.
Feck the candidacy and bollacks to you Platini. He's got a hell of a nerve even standing.
Our journalists did a great job in undercovering the scandals within FIFA, even if we did leave it to the US to actually pull the trigger. The evidence of corruption is comprehensive and indisputable.
Time for the FA to stand up, get the heads of the other footballing nations together and come up with an honest, wide ranging and legitimate new organisation.
It's a fecking GAME and it's been corrupted by a few greedy criminals.

See above post. They just don't see it the same way as us! And if we're 'democratic' about perspectives, we lose! Ow and btw. We lost.

By insisting that candidates to replace Blatter must have two years football administration experience, they are effectively limiting it to insiders, people who have lived and worked in the stench of corruption without even noticing the small. FIFA cannot be reformed. Time for a breakaway is now.

It's TIME the FA said BALLS to Russia in 2018 and set up our OWN competition instead, we have the GROUNDS and facilities to put on a DECENT event and all we need to do is BUNG a few quid at Spain and Germany and some others to play here and not Russia and it would be better than the FIFA World Cup

We could start by inviting some of the nations that have failed to qualify.

It's pretty staggering that the likes of Visa, Macdonalds and Coca Cola are still sponsors of such a corrupt institution.

The FA and every other nation who bid for 2018 should sue FIFA for the cost of their bid process, being as we now know from the horses mouth (as was obviously suspected) that Russia was already a done deal, and all bids were, from the bidding nations point of view, a complete waste of time and money.

The FIFA delegates got all their lovely jollies out of it, being ferried around the various venues, being wined and dined and treated like royalty as the FA toadied up to them for votes. Now that the entire process has been revealed by Blatter himself to have already been rigged before a vote was even cast, any lawyer worth his salt should be able to get tens of millions out of that stinking cartel of an organisation, and hopefully bankrupt them in the process.
