As the BBC like to remind us whenever they go to the highlights on match of the day what a fantastic atmosphere those 38 people and a drum create, is that part of the problem. The constant droning which is the same wherever is happening on the pitch itself cant have a good effect on the players. In normal grounds the atmosphere ramps up as the players perform and gives them the boost they need. Likewise when the players are not performing a burst of atmosphere may help them raise their game. This doesn't happen at Selhurst, for the players it must be like listening to distant roadworks while at work and you cannot wait until clocking off time to be able to gert away from the drone.

I can imagine these being a tad distracting also

Can't believe this hasn't already been posted. Palace's worries are over!!!

According to The Guardian Christopher Samba (yes, that Christopher Samba!) is back in town after failing to make the grade at Panathinaikos.

Crystal Palace have taken Christopher Samba on trial with a view to completing a free transfer for the former Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers defender, as Sam Allardyce steps up his recruitment drive following his side’s slip into the relegation zone at the weekend.

Samba, who played under Allardyce for two seasons at Blackburn, is without a club having been released by the Greek side Panathinaikos over the weekend and he has been invited to train with Palace in an attempt to earn a deal until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old made two appearances in the Greek top flight this season after joining from Dynamo Moscow in August but he has considerable Premier League experience having also been signed by Harry Redknapp at QPR in 2013.

Palace are keen to augment their defensive options having slipped into the bottom three after losing against Everton on Saturday, with Sunderland’s Patrick van Aanholt having agreed personal terms for his move to Selhurst Park for an initial £9m. The left-back is schedule for a medical before the move, which could rise to £12m with bonuses, although it could still be complicated by the fact he was withdrawn from Sunderland’s starting XI just 15 minutes before kick-off against Tottenham in September due to a heart scare, despite the fact he was later cleared by extra tests.

To BFS' credit, he is going to get the defenders in that will potentially turn things around for them, it's a shame a manager like him is roped with such a joke of a team. Samba seems like a step in the right direction (Annoyingly!)

Hoping Palace fans remain ever deluded at Sam's failings, we need more things like William's rant on Talksport

He obviously made a great difference to the current holders performances then.

He'll take it pretty well though, I mean: it's not like he's not used to losing.

I love this photo for so many reasons. The pretend Palace fan, the Delboy and Rodney tribute acts, the Man U scarves and tops in the home end but most of all for Matthew Simmons' outrageous "Off you go, that's an early bath for you" comment that provoked the attack. Fast forward to this season and there were Cantona legend t-shirts being given away to away fans when Man U last played as a way of enticing them to come back to Selhurst for more fun and frolics.

Yes! Happy Eric Cantona Day.

Love Simmons' get up, stylish guy. Schmeichel looks really comical in his pajama top arguing with the Palace fans.

Really? A player joining on a free because he can't get a game for Panathinaikos and who stunk the place out at QPR last time round - sample quote, "Against Swansea, I was ashamed of both mine and the team's performance." Certainly sounds like he will fit right in but not sure if he will be an improvement...
