One thing that the Supporters Club DOESN'T seem to do is attempt to communicate with Albion fans generally. Nor do they seem to do much to recruit new members (apart from folk who want to travel on their coaches).

Fair comment. I know it's easy to use NSC to criticise them and I don't want to sound negative. Surely it should be possible to attract more members and make the club more representative of BHA support.

I don't think they are as proactive as they once were. Maybe it's because there are so many groups nowadays.

I don't think anyone is doubting whats been done by the SC in the past but you probably need a much big presence now than you have at the moment.

Well join then. It doesn't cost much and all the details are on their website. A lot of people these days don't join these things because they may be asked to actually do something.

We've been more proactive in the last few years than ever before. Beside's the leaflet distribution I mentioned earlier, there is the website which is relatively new, a Facebook page and just last Christmas a large flag has been made which is shown at matches home & away. We've also had Q & A sessions with Paul Barber.
There hasn't been a campaign for anything recently as we've got our new home, so people are complacent and content to go to games and go home again.
If anyone has a good idea on how to attract new members then we'd love to hear from you.

nail on the head pottert, we're all just a number in the world of money making at the "customers" expense , some will dispute that of course but the reality is it's the truth ,THE DAY GOING TO A FOOTBALL MATCH WAS MORE LIKE a pantomime REALLY WAS THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN .

Several years ago at York a prominent member of the supporters club (who I won't name as every time I do I get told she isn't on here to defend herself) suggested to us that we shouldn't be in their supporters bar as we weren't in the supporters club party (i.e. gone on her coach). With an attitude like that is it any wonder that they've only got a handful of members?

Apologies. Although this does underline my point about the polarisation of supporter groups. Websites, facebook pages, flags and even a Paul Barber Q & A have all happened in other areas.

My issue is the abuse that faithful members of the BHASC have received. It makes me angry. I've always had good relations with people I know. Sarah was always very friendly.

You have called it the official Supporters Club twice in two posts. There is no such thing as an Official supporters club. It is the oldest which is why it is called plain old Supporters club. As you rightly say there are lots of groups but most of those are more travel groups.

For those who say the supporters club ought to do more, there was a leaflet in every programme last year with information about how to join and the cost ie £5 a year which entitles you to a newsletter every month and £1 off the coach travel to away games. If you go to more than 5 away games, then you've recouped that expense.
There is also a Facebook account but it has lapsed because I haven't kept it up to date.

As Buzzer rightly says, if people don't see any benefit then they won't want to join it. I'm not sure what else we can do tbh. It certainly isn't exclusive or cliquey, as I don't know anyone who has been refused membership.
As has been suggested, the internet forums have taken over a lot of the supporter's club role of keeping people informed.

Certainly we at North West Sussex Seagulls hold regular members meetings, have had visits from various players and Albion officials, and only next week have Tony Bloom coming to give us a talk. Do you, in the 'official' supporters club offer a lot more? Sorry to use the word 'official' again, but at least now you know why l used it!

And I think this is a good thing. It means the club has dialogue with a lot of different groups. All as equal as each other, and doubtless a cross section of views.

It's stuff from the past like this that puts people off.

I went on their coach a few times before I was old enough to drive so it was about 15 years ago, but you always got the feeling if you weren't a regular that people didn't really want you there. Liz Costa had a go at my friend because someone defaced their sh*tty raffle sheet that was going round the bus, it was nothing to do with us but we got the blame because our faces didn't fit, we never bothered after that. A different time, when the argus ran those coaches to scunthorpe in about 98/99 she was really rude to my friend because he went to get on the wrong bus (her one)
