As some of you may have seen, the Gestapo at Facebook shut down our Seagulls Downunder page, stating that it wasn't a proper persons name.
We weren't the only ones this happened to, many Facebook pages around the world suffered the same plight.

I'm now left trying to recover the 300+ members to our new page, nevermind 4 years of lost photo's that I'm now having to re-load to the new page.
If you have friends or family in Australia or New Zealand, can you please forward them this link to the new page https://www.facebook.com/seagulls.downunder?ref=hl#!/groups/793991363994044/ you need to be logged in to Facebook to activate this link.

Please don't try joining it if you don't live in either, you can however add our other page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Brig...ralian-Supporters-Club/182347468450496?ref=hl
This is updated with a lot of the info from our SDU page so you'll be able to see what we get up to at the many of the events we attend.

Thanks for your help and lets hope we can not only recover the lost members but maybe add a few more.

This is bad news, how do they notify you or what reasons where you given for this. Do you have any rights over reclaiming the contents. I see lots of blogs warning of the reasons many pages are closed and how to avoid them, most seem to be targeted against commercial use.

Most of those shut down were commercial, there are many Albion related ones, set up like ours, be warned, it could happen to you.
No warnings, nothing, just a note on my screen as stated above in OP. You can't even contact them, I tried 4 avenues and each one came back with, this is not the correct channel to contact Facebook and then goes in to ways of doing just this through your FB page. If you can make sense of their terms & conditions, your a better man than me.
I spent days trying to recover the page, they've now linked it to my own personal page and made it just a like page.
The problems with this, we can't keep it just for those of us in Aus or NZ, we can't message members or tag them in photo's, we can't create an event page for our meet ups, the list is endless. In short the page is useless, which is why I've created the closed group page.
Google it and you'll find people pulling their hair out over the FB changes to their accounts. It's bullshit, 2 days after this, a friend sent me a full porn clip of about 2mins doing the rounds on FB.
This is ok but running a supporters club page under a persons name isn't, you couldn't make it up.

I really do need your help here, there must be hundreds of you that know SDU members here and in New Zealand.
I'm left trying to manually track down over 300+ members, it's not going to happen on my own.
The old SDU page I'm left with is useless and the posts are not being seen by as many as before, therefore the change over is becoming tiresome.
Please send them this link https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/793991363994044 /
Thanks

What a ridiculous situation , you can't complain about it and seek redress because they'll point out that the small print in the T&C allows them to do what they ******* well like.

That just about sums it up. From growing the supporters club for over 4 years, I'm almost back to square one.

Sorry to hear. Facebook is a bag of shite from top to bottom. Shame you can't 'host' the new SD site elsewhere.

In the new year we will be, we are going to launch our new website which will have member login, this will also create a database so I can't get put in this position again.

Sorry can't help but maybe the club can? They would be able to identify all email addresses with an au or nz suffix (loads must sign up for player too) and send them some communication (maybe send them your suggested) with your link

They can do it, whether or not they will though I'm less sure

They're about to do it this week, I've already been in touch to sort this out.
