I think Southend United was my second or third game.

I have the programme nestled away somewhere at my folks'. I am sure Raphael Meade scored for us and we ended up winning 3-2, with a sit-in at the end of the game. We are talking about '92 here or thereabouts.

Exactly what I have said in my blog.............almost

I haven't read it yet, but the memories are sketchy after 17 years since that game, so I shall do so!

I wanted to join the sit-in, no idea what it was about at the time, but was not allowed to. :nono:

Edit: Billy Graham? Has he been erased from my memory bank?

I remember us beating them 9:1 at the Goldstone sometime after we beat Wisbech 10:2 in the cup. I don't think that we'll win by 8 goals on Saturday, unless Fred Binney plays.

I seem to remember that we lost 0-2 to QPR in the home game between these two. Saw all three. Charlie Livesey & Jack Smith were the strikers then. Not Fred Binney !

Tim, get yourself a copy of the book Stephen King on Writing then you will no longer subject the Brighton public to such crimes of penmanship as:

‘but keep those white stilettos off the pitch’ he said stereotypically. Never use construction like 'he said,' and avoid adverbs ('stereotypically') at all costs.

Thanks for that Cheeky. I will heed your constructive criticism, but hey at least you read it!

Not very exciting, but 3rd game of the season (I think) last year, went down to Roots Hall, watched us outclass them and Forster and Murray completely ran the show between them. Perfect partnership.

Discovered at the final whistle that we were top of the league.

Happy drive home, then suddenly we're driving alongside a big nice-looking bus. Tour bus? Team bus?

We give them a beep. Gary Hart turns around and waves to us, Big Michel gives us a typically FDM fist pump as we signal 2-0 to them.

All of us blissfully unaware of the bleak months ahead.
