I had to but some suntan lotion for my 2 kids over the weekend. It cost me nearly £10 (boots own brand) for a bottle that told me that it contained 13 applications (presumable if kid is in a shorts/t-shirt with a lot of skin exposed) . It also said that it had to be re-applied every 2-3 hours. On a hot day that means buying a new bottle every 2 days! I appeciate that you take that you possible strecth the timings a measures a little but this takes the piss...

On the brink of promotion and the title, and this forum has a thread about the price of sun tan lotion. Priceless :)

Try using P20, one application in the morning, all day long protection (SPF20). 1 bottle lasts me about a week when on hols, £20 a bottle. Been using it for a 7 or 8 years now, never got sunburnt, and no slimey skin either

Why would I be white as a ghost? Not sure I'm getting you there, are you suggesting that you don't tan with SPF20 protection? I get a tan, I'm no sun worshipper, but SPF bears no relation to how you tan, it refers to how long you can stay in the sun before burning. Then, if you are using a product that needs re-applying, you can calculate how often to apply based on how quickly you burn compared to the SPF of the product you use.

What's the air temperature got to do with the strength of the sun... ?

Suntan lotion has to have the biggest mark-up in 'Rip Off Britain' after replica football shirts shirley? In Oz you can buy an industrial-sized dispenser of the stuff for next to no money at all.
