Gus is a complete and utter genius. How anyone can say otherwise is beyond me.

I have said it many many times but he will manage at the highest level, the highest level.

We needed to let him run things his way. All geniuses are mavericks. You just have to learn how to live with them. We didn't.

Our loss.

Totally. That is why I am angry as it should never have got to this and I don't buy the 100% of blaming everything on Poyet. Bloom worshipped Poyet and then something changed , I think I have an idea of what that change was.

I think you can also worry about Poyet taking Tomasc Kuszczak from us in a few months time when he is out of contract.

Mannone is a good keeper. I think Kuszczak will go if we don't get promoted but not necessarily to Sunderland to sit on the bench.

I share your hatred of what has happened to the game. There are positives that can be taken but for the most part the game is a much more sanitised version of the sport of 20 years ago. It lacks passion and is driven entirely by money and there are too many in it that aren't bothered by the competitition, save for the financial impact.

I'm not sure about implode, but I can see a major restructuring taking place which will be the end for many smaller clubs. Like you I hope I'm wrong but difficult to be confident all the time money is bossing the sport

Well constructed post  it was major restructuring of Club Rugby that was the start and demise of it, there are some very famous Rugby clubs that are in such a financial state they can barely operate, clubs like Pontypool, Bridgend, clubs that had thousands turn up every home game, now due to the way its gone they are lucky to have between 250 to 500 attend.

I do appreciate the comparisons may be a bit unfair, but I still fear that football will go that way due to the money involved and the way its all run.

I had better add, that apart from internationals like the six nations and the world cup and the obvious English / welsh banter, I am not a fan whatsoever of egg chasing really, over this next 6 weeks or so I have no choice but to live and breathe it!! (also because of my job!)

Good luck to Gus, Tanno, Charlie and Liam, I thank them for the job they did with us but couldn't give 2 hoots about how they do with Sunderland! All a about Oscar now for me!

It's not that I particularly care how are ex players/managers do but I am interested from the point of view of our club. All the time are players are moving upwards then the chances are we are doing well. The fact we can attract players with the potential to perform at the top is encouraging and will also help enhance our reputation as a club and will in turn attract even better players to the club.

You won't get NSC a lawsuit, if you simply say "I think the reason is...."

Problems happen when someone states something as fact, not opinion, and it turns out to be hogwash.

It's a lot easier to give a 'genius' free reign in a profitable business with massive sums of money coming through the door.

No 'mavericks' can act to their full potential when constrained by, in this case, a massive debt showing no signs of shrinking.

For the record US is right 'it should never have got to this', but it did and with no knowledge as to why people are now waiting to find out which party history will repeat with first.

Many managers have managed at the highest level.......Keegan, McLaren, Ericson, Graham Taylor to name but a few, personally I would not call any of them geniuses, well, above and beyond how they ever got to such a position! I will add, I don't think Gus is / was a genius, he did well while it was going well though.

My mantra from yesterday still applies.

I don't see how Gus can be a genius when he's pitting himself against inadequate managers/directors/owners, and is yet to accomplish the job he was employed to do.

is this supposed to be sarcastic? im a Gus fan, but how is he a genius? A genius would have got us through the play offs, a genius might have been able to change tactics to turn losing positions to wins. what couldnt he run his way, should he have been given an unlimited budget? we did live with him and pretty much everyone supported him right up until he decided he didnt want to be with us anymore.

I do not know what all this gushing is about? Sunderland were a good side with some quality players in. They had a crap manager and the got Gus in, he got the team organised and got them playing for each other. A good manager can do that.

Now a great manager is someone who can see potential in players before they reach it and bring them on. He can also work magic with the squad he has. I think at the moment Gus falls in between the 2. We have some good players in the DS squad, but I wonder if under Gus they would have got into the first team eventually or would he have wanted the board to spend more money on other players.

Running a club is a balance and that means working harder to find quality players in the making rather then journeymen who are looking for a lot of money. That is why the new training facilities are important and investing in the youngsters.

Sunderland are where they should be in the league and that is mid table, can Gus take them into the top 4/6 ? I doubt it as he will have moved on by then. He will be in demand and when he has a team capable of challenging for the top 4 , then we will see how good he is. I would not be surprised to see him the manager of Spurs at the start of next season.

Why ? He may have had unique circumstances at BHAFC he will not get elsewhere, ie a CEO. I still find it incredible that NO ONE knows the full facts of what happened as it was never released and Poyet never had his side of the story but still lets all swallow the company line and slaughter the bloke regardless. The facts are and it is becoming clearer by the day we have lost one of the greatest young managers in the English game and possibly the World which will be proved in due course. Lots of people will be sitting up and taking notice at the revolution happening at Sunderland in 3 months. It is staggering the turnaround.

But it's not just about How he left.

It is quite clear that if things go slightly awry, e.g. Booed off against FC Utd (see golf comment)or murmurings about Barnes (turns to the crowd with a sshh gesture, then comments about 'understanding' football) Poyet gets upset. If things dont go his way (we get the ceiling comment).

He is very passionate which is great, but equally he fails to engage his brain when he speaks. (e.g Suarez. Another example).

If you have forgotten the above then you have a short memory.

He is clearly ambitious and makes no secret of the fact and will do whatever necessary to achieve his aim.

As I pointed out he is a great manager but IMO he will eventually leave Sunderland and it's likely to be down to budget or control.

You wanted to gamble the whole future and existence of BHA on a manager you think is a maverick ? Sounds like a plan

Gus is viper in my view, and I won't forgive him for his antics at the end of last season - until that wrong is righted by our promotion to the premier league, and the ghost of gus is finally rid from this club.

What surprises me most is how Oatway can coach Premiership players.

You still can't accept that he's passed all his coaching badges? That says more about you than it does about Charlie.

What a stupid response. Of course all coaches have their badges, but that doesn't mean they all have the same abilities.

I have a driving licence but I'm not a road rally champion.
