Well, that's Caicedo replaced (if we spend it wisely), how much for Mac replacement, Mitoma and March backups, same again ? It's worked well for Boehly after all
Except we didn't pay shit loads for these players, Liverpool didn't pay shit loads for Mac either. Just because Boehly is a rich idiot doesn't mean we need to rebuild following his model

Gilmour can’t dictate play against strong opposition, he’s not good enough.

And Undav is only scoring goals because the standard of defences in the Bundesliga is appalling. If fans genuinely think he’s going to come back and bang in goals in the PL, they’re going to be very disappointed.
Yeah I remember Gilmour being completely anonymous in the home game against Marseille...

I'm surprised nobody picked up on this.

Who in their right mind would be looking to move on Facu after seeing him consistently improving month on month.

Oh no. Did I not get your permission to put his name down. 🤔

Like many others it’s Lallana, Milner, Moder, Lamptey, Dahoud, Webster, Steele.

New right back, new oven ready centre mid, more cover on both wings. If we’re still unsure about Bart then recall Rushworth and start him. Possibly replace Webster with a young ball playing CB from a lower league team. All of these signings can be potential money makers apart from the right back and CM, where we have to sign proven quality. And, by that, I don’t mean by acting as Liverpool’s retirement home again.

The only contentious one I guess is Gilmour. I can see an argument for a squad player but I think we should upgrade.

Hopefully the world’s most expensive cheer leader will be moved on this summer.
Lallana’s over generous wages will be handy to pay a high quality player fit and able enough to consistently contribute over a full game.
Nice guy no doubt, quality player in his day. He’s been terrible value though - the big wages should strictly be reserved for those who perform best on the pitch.

My hesitation with Gilmour is we would only have Baleba and Gross in this scenario, I’d rather keep Gilmour for now and aim for two quality CM signings rather than three and risk diluting it

Makes sense. I agree we really do need “two quality CM signings”, this is a priority. I’d add oven-ready to the adjectives as well. It’s a shame the Dahoud signing went (strangely) sour so quickly as on paper he seemed a good fit.

It never ceases to amaze me how we can all watch the same games and come to such different conclusions about what is going on out there.

We do have some prize plums.

I'd love two quality, oven-ready CM signings, but we really aren't and have never been in that game have we ? Look at last Summer's oven ready quality CM signings across the Premier League.

We have to hope that 19 year old Hinshelwood, 20 year old Baleba and 22 year old Gilmour keep improving at the same rate and we get a couple more similar. Bissouma, Caicedo and MacAlistair certainly weren't oven ready when we signed them ???

No they weren’t but they weren’t thrown straight in either. We had the limited but solid Stephens and Propper. It allowed us to bring through better players in our time.
The worst signing of last summer was Milner, on massive wages (for us) and has done f*** all for us. He’s not even based here, he comes down by private helicopter twice a week from the north west. Ridiculous that we’ve allowed that situation to occur.

We were “in this game” last summer when we signed Dahoud. I don’t see why we can’t find a couple of suitable CM in similar circumstances again.
