But there seems to be two approaches:

- not stand in their way and accept a pretty low offer (Gilmour, Burn, Mac Allister, Gross)
- hold out for the maximum possible (Caicedo, Cucurella, Undav, White)

The argument I guess is the ones where we accepted lower offers, they were model professionals and didn't kick up a fuss. But it's a lot of money to miss out on for rewarding good behaviour, especially considering how stubborn the club have been with other sales.

Every situation is different. Maybe he has good reasons (not just wanting to move to a cool and big club).

Agree the squad is a little weaker without him but still very competitive. Not worried even if a replacement doesn't come.

I get that and it should generally be the rule. But it can't be every time and in this case we have a problem at CM, especially after the O'Riley injury. Occasionally we should say no and when an injury is out of our control the player might be more likely to understand.

You appear to have forgotten Trossard and Bissouma and Sanchez. Not sure they fit in either of your options. It is far more nuanced than you imply.

We put in an offer for a Danish striker according to Ornstein ( I posted the link above).

Chelsea operate under a default transfer market strategy - assume they are in ‘dialogue’ to buy every player in the European leagues and BHAFC unless they state otherwise

I think Ferguson is safe - his trajectory trailed off last season with ‘young striker growing pains’ - I think
any Club will be wary of paying over £100m for him at the moment ( and we’ll not take anything less) until he’s completely in condition and has his mojo back.

Only expecting the Dane, but for strategical reasons he probably won't sign "officially" until January.
