We have got a national health service which is owned by the country and as far as we are aware is pretty transparent ,most other countries have not and have for the best part smaller private hospitals,I have a medical friend in Italy who said it was awful with bodies lined up for the make shift morturary`s in various areas and the figure for deaths was way out ,correct me if I am wrong but I have not seen that here and I have had a lot of dealings with the NHS especially recently. The true figures of these countries will never be revealed for a myriad of reasons politicaly and financially.

I think the only country (technically) in the EU who didnt was the country demanding the ability to control their borders, resulting in what you have said ie the 2nd highest mortality rate in the world. Government was negligent

*SIGH* If only we were an island nation, border control during a global pandemic would 'of' been so much easier. Oh.

Dave me old mate at no point have I said I disagree with you on the UK’s negligence.

The CZ have been nasty in their approach to the refugee crisis and to be frank couldn’t give a shit about EU laws and bloc expectations, they are not a team player it seems.

You would think it would be like brexiteers claimed, and they were having to do what the EU said. Like I said, I dont agree with the CZ govt regarding refugees.

Two ridiculous comments about Brexit. Maybe it is because Brexit has had NO discernable impact upon travel that Brexit has nothing whatsoever to do with the current crisis. Beats me that even in the worst pandemic to affect our country, people still see fit to whine about it.

Sigh.

I can see many people wanting to go abroad for their usual two weeks away. They won’t even stay in in the UK, visiting each other for BBQs, and sitting on benches having beers together.
Even when Spain went into lockdown, Brits were wandering along the promenades, videoed swimming in the hotel pool (video clip on NSC of a British woman councillor getting arrested) and whinging because the bars were closed.
Your friends & acquaintances may be sensible, but there are many who aren’t.

This is my suspicion. If Brit's can get away to the Med this summer then whilst numbers will be well down I can still imagine vast numbers flocking to the sun

Sorry, am I missing something? I don't recall making ONE ridiculous comment about Brexit, let alone TWO. What gives? ???

You and the other poster. I thought your post was a dig at Brexit quoting the other poster. I appear to be mistaken and for that I apologise.

Excellent, no mention of the UK on that list, as a country suffering the SECOND worse mortality rate in the WORLD
I think the only country (technically) in the EU who didnt was the country demanding the ability to control their borders, resulting in what you have said ie the 2nd highest mortality rate in the world. Government was negligent
But we don't have the 2nd worst mortality rate. We don't have the 1st or 3rd worst mortality rate either.

It’s quite pathetic how obsessed people are with mortality rates and the like at the moment just in order so they can throw some shit at the government, the only way we can truly tell the numbers it’s once this is all over the way countries report deaths is also vastly different. We’ve been under NHS capacity this whole time and everyone has had treatment they need, I’d be willing to lay good money down when the true figures come out Italy and Spain will be well clear of the U.K.

I find it quite despicable how it seems like certain people and members of the MSM seem to take glee in the grim milestones we pass.

Italy had virtually no warning, the UK did.

I can only go from experience here but March 12th started a State of Emergency with tough legislation. On the same day, the British govt offered the advice 'wash your hands'
