Bought a stunning suit for my daughters wedding in Duke St 4-5 years ago. Can't remember the shops name but it's half way down on the right (from West St), one of the biggest shop fronts. Got some very nice quality suits from designers that you won't find in the chain stores.

Upstairs was loads of suits.

Hoping the NSC community can assist me on this please as I'm struggling to find options online.

I'm off to the Royal meeting at Ascot next week and am going in the Royal Enclosure so need the full suit and top hat.

Looking to buy outright from a suit shop in Brighton - sourcing men's clothing up here in Mid Sussex is a nightmare - does anyone have any recommendations please? Somewhere they may have bought from before etc.

Don't bother with Moss Bros in Church Road, Hove.

Went in there last week to get a basic 3 piece suit. No staff, no help, tried a few things off the peg. Found something that nearly fitted. Queued for half an hour to see if they had something in stock a slightly different size. They didn't... Didn't have the slight alteration I needed but wanted to charge an extra £25 to take the sleeves up an inch and said it would take a couple of weeks and they couldn't guarantee getting it done by the end of the month.

Price tags were missing, I thought it would be £300/ £400ish

Total price quoted £580.

The other suits were awful.

I am not a weird shape.

6ft tall, 40" chest, 34" waist, 32" leg.

If they can't provide a decent suit for the most average of person....

Not their fault, they can't get stock or staff or anyone to alterations.

15 years ago I took my favourite 60s tailored suit (ticket pocket, vents, working buttoned cuffs, etc.) to Thailand and had immaculate copies in different materials made. They're beautiful and cost £50 a pop. Also did the same with my favourite shirts at £5 each. My only regret was not getting 3 times as many made. The price of a suit today, if you're after 2 then a trip there would leave you a few quid up.

I’ve been struggling to find a suit in Brighton, so I thought I’d have a look on NSC. It’s amazing how regularly it delivers!

Keep the ideas coming. Debenhams was a loss on this front and I think another one in Churchill Square has disappeared. I tried Moss Bros on Monday and was unimpressed.

I did that back in the early 90s. Had a lovely Boss suit from The Lanes, took it to a place someone recommended in Bangkok. Had a couple of lovely copies made in a great silk blend. Very nice.

Are you thinking of Woodies?

That’s the one I would recommend. Helped me choose the right suit to get married in.

When I first came to Brighton a few years before I came back to live permanently, I remember a suit shop in the church hill square area , think it was called Foster Menswear . Wondered what happened to that .

Brighton factually.....
If you don't mind the odd Wellend shopper, i suggest along with others Jump The Gun.

Timeless suits, not too badly priced either.

Have you looked on eBay? There are loads of practically new suits on there going for peanuts

I got my son a £400 Hugo Boss suit for his school leavers prom for £40 last week.

The staff are somewhat above that thankfully

Having worked there, a long time ago, it can be 'challenging' at times.

aside the classic 'mod' type suits, there are also some pretty cool late 50's early 60's 'jazz scene' styles

Loake shoes, good shirts and ties too.
