Lavenham is a fantastic mediaeval town as a consequence of being one of the richest places in England at the time. It's very picturesque and full of fantastic wonky buildings. Sudbury is also very pleasant but larger and not quite so quaint.

Used to stay in a little village called Orford years ago. A good base for visiting Aldeburgh, Felixstowe, Woodbridge etc plus it has a lovely harbour, a few decent pubs and a castle. Lovely part of the world.

Aldeburgh is lovely, Thorpeness just up the road is gorgeous, Southwold has the Adnam's Brewery. All close together. Then there's the Maltings at Snape, very nice. And Clare is a gorgeous village.

Exactly what I would have said.....don't forget Flatford Mill inland.

Chez Alan Brazil....very welcoming, bonhomie, good football chat, spanking good restaurants nearby and enough alcohol to make Oliver Reed look like a choirboy.
