If Braverman didn't really think she was English she'd have tried to deport herself

Eight months into the Labour government, and the headlines are all Trump, Russia, Ukraine, a developing (or not) peace deal, ramping up EU defence spending, with Starmer doing an excellent job by all accounts.

The Tories are nowhere near the headlines, without a sniff of winning any votes back.

So they manufacture a discussion for which the country, and this forum, just doesn't have the appetite.

The nation has far more important matters to consider - the defence of the realm.

I've read the article.

I'm somewhat perplexed as to why the media have picked up on it. Maybe it's a slow news day (as if you can have one of those in Trump world.)

It's a pile of gibberish as an article and a pretty pointless read. She's clearly trying to stir something.

The only point she makes is that she sees herself as British rather than English, in the same way as I see myself as from Sussex rather than from Yorkshire. At the end of the day, who gives a sh1t? There's a bloke in our village who is Welsh and who appears to have lived here for years and loves the place. He's not English and he doesn't want to be, but he seems to love life in Sussex.

Anyhow, I was going to get a dog, but f*ck me, having seen the problems they bring, forget it.

"Discuss". No thanks, a written instruction I have contemptuously ignored since the moment I finished my 'A' levels.
It wasn't really an invitation to 'discuss' was it.
'Mock' was the work I had in mind.
Shirly you knew that?
Discuss

First of all, I couldn't give a flying fack about either of them (like you, by the sounds of it).

Second of all, why have you started a thread asking for a discussion about something you clearly (going by switching off R5) have zero interest in?
I wasn't *really* inviting a 'discussion'.

Do I have to put *everything* in 'quotes' now?

Sue Ellen is triggering another culture war and I thought it deserved some mockery.
Then I f***ed off to work and haven't been on NSC all day.
I salute @PILTDOWN MAN for engaging appropriately. :lolol:

Bravo, sir.
Spot on.

And a glorious thing it is to behold.

I’m team Sunak. If Braverman does not consider herself English, she should stop trying to run our country and f*** off to another one. Such a pathetic attempt to gaslight reform voters.
I am indifferent as to whether or not she is English; but what is not in dispute (imho) is that she is thicker than a Boxing Day turd.

Probably depends how one defines English.
How does one define it? 🤔
The last time the topic was discussed, everyone was arrested, and then thrown in jail
