I remember when my parents bought me The International Edition of Subbuteo. It had floodlights etc
I though I was the dogs bollox.
My first team on Subbuteo was Sunderland as my dad was a Mackem

The Avenue then Maloncho
I only had the basic package so I only had a red team and a blue team, both had white shorts and socks however when money permited due to my Scottish heritage my two most treasured teams were Queens Park and the Scotland national side.

I remember treating myself to a new team from the discount basket in Gamleys.
Looking back I'm somewhat proud of myself that when queried as to what team I was playing as I was adamant that my players were wearing the black and white stripes of Dunfermline rather than any other humbug team.

I think I've only told you all about ten times that I was St Luke's School Division One champion in June 1981. So I'll tell you again.

I played as Aston Villa

I also had the red and blue teams, added loads to them over the years and then thought I’m too old for this and sold the lot for peanuts to Toys and Togs in Boundary Road! Which I now regret of course.

I had one floodlight, made things a bit challenging, and used to make the grandstands out of cardboard boxes from the supermarket including making terraces on which I put all the spare teams to make the stands look full!

I do remember having a Peru team but needed Coventry and so got out the sky blue paint and painted them all! Coventry had 11 black players in an era where West Brom were considered pioneers with the Three Degrees!

Sure that isn’t Wet Spam?
There's a story there.

The World Cup tournament took place in July. But there was a rule you had to play in the same colours as your chosen team. To get round this, and use my Aston Villa team, I randomly chose El Salvador assuming no-one would know what colours they played in. During the tournament one kid found them on the chart and told me I was lying. I said that I was playing in their away colours...

I was 5th favourite of the 24 to win it but nearly went out the first round in a poor group. This was due to having to play a match with my straight legged Netherlands team which had been set up by someone else in haste at the tie being on, thus drawing 2-2 with a lower ranked player. I also lost twice to the other low ranked player who's keeper I just couldn't beat- mainly because it had loads of glue over it and was bigger. Someone raised an objection to it in the main phase of the tournament and it was banned.

Anyway, I swept my way to the final, only to be beaten when strong favourite against a player ranked about 9. It was the first time the trophy had ever left Class 10 and my teacher gave me absolute daggers.

I’m getting the impression this experience was a major part of your growing up and still hurts!

Can't remember the first team I had - but I do know my most regular matches at home were Liverpool v Leeds.

My favourite team kit though was the Man City away / Southwick home kit. I even had the number transfers on there.

And (sorry about this) I also had the Palace team - the one with the diagonal red/blue stripes.

I was under so much pressure to win and went 1-0 up early in the first match, but lost 3-2 in a replay after a 1-1 draw. My opponent was carried aloft Class 9 shoulders back to their lair. Bastards, I hate them all.

No, it hasn't affected me much.
