I don't think it's whether the family believe she caused her death but whether the medics do. As far as I am aware from previous reports, the delay had no effect. I am sure if it had, she would have been charged with a more serious offence.

But the big difference between a criminal case and a civil case is the level that it needs to be proven to. To get a conviction in a criminal case it needs to be proved beyond reasonable doubt. However in a civil case you only need to prove it in the balance of probability.

Hmm, there's an A.Avery in telephone directory for Leicester, even gives address.

A Avery
Tel: (***27) ***564 - Text Number
** Garrigill, Wil***ote, Ta**orth, B77 ***

I've hidden some important details - but if someone wanted to call her up, and discuss her behaviour (whilst witholding their own number of course) the information is out there isn't it?

You can try calling that number, but I don't think you'll find Tamworth is in Leicester - B77 is in Staffordshire. The BBC report clearly describes her as "Avery, of Tatlow Road, Glenfield", and she isn't listed in my 2009/10 Leicester BT phonebook. That's probably her partner's address. And Annika Avery isn't even a unique name, so be careful. Anyway, she'd probably laugh at you.

You might want to check your info again. The papers all refer to her address as 'Stockton House, Tatlow Road, Glenfield'. I think you might have jumped to the assumption that she owns the house she lives in. Also, you might withold your number from her but if she complains then Ofcom will track you down. You could cause more problems for yourself, especially if you're ringing the wrong Avery!

I appreciate that but in none of the current reports or those at the time has any suggestion been made that her stupid actions prevented him being saved. Even in a civil court, the family would require medical expert witnesses to testify on their behalf. It's a shame, because an actual custodial sentence might have wiped that smug grin off her face. Let's hope her friends, colleagues and more importantly, her employers, take note of the sort of person she is.
