Possibly, but I’ve no idea. The Germans I have spoken to have all stated that another election was most unlikely though. Costs and time are prohibitive but the main fact is that nothing has really changed in the country in the past two months for people to vote on. Last time they voted on the party’s performance over the past 4 years ...there isn’t anything more to vote on this time; pointless.

And yes, the socialists did state they didn’t want to go into coalition. But, when their country needed them they altruistically changed their minds. Acting for the greater good should be applauded; it’s a key part of socialism. As I say, I’m proud of my comrades.

I am no expert on German politics (or British politics a lot of people would say) but it looks like a complete pigs ear rather than strong and stable.

If this is strong and stable, maybe Mrs May was right!!

I’d settle for half of this over the next term.

The SPD was in government with Mrs Merkel between 2013 and 2017 and said it would not renew the deal following the 24 September election, when the party had its worst election result since 1949.

This will mean two unpopular and weaker parties running Germany. I understand this is how democracy works, but it's not Strong & Stable.

Hunting around for 2 months to find another party to form a government is not Strong & Stable.

I really don't get it if he's serious, or all just tongue in cheek having a giggle. I understand he has a different politcal view to me and I accept that, but what I don't get is that he can never seem to see that some of what he posts is pure crap.

This is now Strong And Stable; it's not now and it clearly wasn't 2 months ago. And, just because the SPD are going to enter talks, does that mean there will be an agreement? Of course not (otherwise, we'd have a Jamaican Coalition now).

Interesting. I feel that most partnerships and agreements are stronger and more stable when you have talked through your differences. All the parties have been in discussion and through reason, consideration, patience and thought they’ve settled on this. They have also delivered what the electorate wanted as they are the two biggest parties after all. My only criticism is the SDP’s fit of pique in initially not wanting to govern.
