The funniest one was "waste", but I got it back.

I moved into my last place and there a large rubbish collection to be taken as well as a few old PCs and monitors that I took the opportunity to get rid off.

Always do the right thing and get a registered collector, never cheap. Leaves you with paperwork etc....

So the van turns up and he starts piling into the back. I go outside and start helping.

Annoyingly he starts telling me what he won't and will take which was a bit odd since we'd already agreed what the waste was.

So we've finished and I'm now pissed off I've got to find somewhere to get rid of the rest.

At which point the real waste collector turns up

We made him unload it all into new van with the threat of ringing the police. Easiest job the real collector ever had.

When I was in halls at Uni, we nicked everything out of the downstairs kitchen - every piece of cutlery, crockery, food, drawers, table and chairs, and the bin - whilst the lads were all out one night. We hid it all in a storage room on the other side of campus that we had nicked a key for.

I still laugh when I remember the ‘hard’ lad from the football team (American Studies undergraduate) knocking on our door and asking if we’d got their stuff. ‘You must have it. Who wants a table for fucks sake?’ he barked as we pleaded ignorance.

A tumble dryer and washing machine from my outhouse. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when they plugged them in and realised that they didn't actually work.

They were in the outhouse waiting for the council to pick them up and take them to the tip.

Ah yes, I saw the court result from that one in the Argus. The thief got twelve months.

It was going to be 11 months for the stolen Albion calendar as it was likely March would've been missing.

Some fruit bread which I'd bought at a German Christmas market.

It was definitely stollen.

When I owned one of my pubs I had what was an old stable block. In there I had a number of freezers. i had a whole butchered pig in one of them, we suffered a three day electricity cut. The pig began to smell, so when we finally got power I decided to let it freeze then dispose of it.

A day later someone broke in and nicked the lot. I bet they wished they hadn't!!

A brand new metal birdfeeder still full of nuts - completely disappeared from the tree it was hanging on in the garden.

Caught the culprit AGAIN a few days later red handed, trying to drag away the replacement.


When I confronted him, he got really defensive and vehemently denied all knowledge of the missing feeder - lying little toerag!

I often leave old radiators outside properties I’m working in, saves me getting rid of them if they are collected.

I know of two cases of people leaving their radiators outside while they decorated intending to put them back up. Big mistake.

A whole 4 man tent, 3 sleeping bags,3 bags with changes of clothing in, and 5 Watneys party 7s.

At the time, the theft of the beer pissed me off more than anything, now I’d pay them to take it away.

When energy saving light bulbs were still a fairly new thing, I bought one to put in the light outside my front door.

It lasted less than a week before it got nicked

I've never understood my doorbell theft.

The only reason I can think is they can come round every now and then ring the bell and run away.

Not definitely nicked, but I have lost literally dozens of albums over the years. Mostly during the 70s and early 80s.

I had a telly remote nicked when I lived in hull but they’d nicked my VCR as well so just did a clean sweep of the remotes to be sure.

My dad told me just yesterday that he got his daily paper home last week only to find that someone had swiped the telly pages.

Someone at work stole my work and used it for a job interview.

Quite senior they didn't get it and when I found out I literally cornered them.

They threatened to ruin my career (yed really) but I was pre-prepared with some information about them.

Took him in a room and dropped the bombshell. Poor sod went white and I never had a peep out of him again.

Eventually his propensity to steal things caught up with him and they got rid.

Not me but a friend got burgled and all that got stolen was his kettle.
