Credit to wee Gordon, it appears this one really was mutual consent, as Gibson has said of Gordon "he ripped up his contract". Sounds like he has accepted he did a bad job and agreed to walk away, with no compensation.

Great credit to Strachen for doing that, gone right up in my opinion of him.

'tis nice to hear that. Similar to when Tarricco ripped up his contract after suffering a nasty injury on his West Ham debut. An act of sportsmanship was the descruption by his then manager, Mr Pardew

Fair play to GS for walking away without a hefty pay-off. I think he'll probably do well at his next club. Sometimes things just don't work out: just look at Ian Holloway & his disasterous spell at Leicester. I can see things getting a lot worse at The Smoggies before they reach rock bottom tbh. Maybe a season or two in L1 will do 'em some good in the grand scheme of things? Well, maybe not then, eh... ?

One man who's stock has risen because of this is Gareth Southgate. He was sacked exactly one year ago tomorrow with Boro in 4th spot one point off the top having just beaten Derby 2-0.

Maybe Strachan's honorable departure was brought about, in part, by personal guilt over Southgate's sacking. Strachan was, after all, installed with almost undue haste.

The home stadium is an issue because of the shite atmosphere. It always feels like there's no one there, even when there's 20,000-odd thousand.
