We are in the middle of having some gardening work done at Block F cottage. Hmm, all looks okayish at the moment. Luckily the planting is in a more protected part of the garden. My potted Acer fell over
...Gaviscon...On several occasions in the small hours, I was woken by the wind making a high pitched squealing sound. I found it disconcerting.
I was living in Reigate in 1987 and lost my garden shed to next door. Thankfully that was the worst of it for my house, but trying to get around was a nightmare.I think the same. My mother lost part of her roof, her fence, shed etc in 1987, and it was a nightmare for weeks. Yes, we get the wheelie bins jokes etc, but elsewhere it is bad.
Think yourselves lucky.
Grump over.
Bad day for us spelling pedants. Marrocco's has lost one its r's.View attachment 169054
Thank you for posting that, I love her
Does that change the pitch of the sound to something more normal? It doesn't claim that in the advert....Gaviscon...
DRW’s galore round here..often paired with yoga mats/labradoodles/large hot drinks and sometimes clambering in/out of massive cars. No, just need some urban wear to protect me from the elements between my Sports Utility Vehicle and the front door of my local coffee house
First World problems eh?Our 'normal' waste bin has gone over, so a little rubbish picking required shortly.
Must have been a freakish gust, all our bins are parked up hard against our garage with a car backed up in front of them. Hey ho...
Depends whether you shove it in edgeways or full-face.Does that change the pitch of the sound to something more normal? It doesn't claim that in the advert.
Eye of the storm now over somewhere south east of Guildford, and heading for London.
We seem to be over the worst here in Brighton. Wheelie bin recovery teams can stand down.
Oddly enough, I noticed that earlier and mentioned it to my partner. It's currently reading 950 millibars - the lowest shown on the barometer. My barometer is at 956 millibars, the lowest I've seen it. Helpfully is says 'Stormy'.
Winds near the eye will be light. All the action was and still is, in the channel. Take a look at the gradient of the winds swirling to the south of the eye. It's that steep gradient that gives us the high winds. It has been pretty quiet in Guildford, just rain. Mrs Orange drove to work in Reading earlier and reported a swift drive as all the roads were clear.
Given this is the lowest recorded pressure in 200 years then yes, its unlikely you've seen lower. My barometer is at 956 millibars, the lowest I've seen it. Helpfully is says 'Stormy'.
