there's no new tech im aware of, heat up some heat absorbing bricks and let the heat back out. this is the (cold and expensive) future.

You can get electric boilers, all you need is something that heats up the water that circulates round you radiators. They are much more expensive to run atm though.

Geothermal is the future surely. Part of it anyway. Lots of initiatives out there which will have to get cheaper in time I would hope.

geothermal is super if you have a thermal spring nearby.

The cheapest solution is to run a pipe to the cooling towers of your local nuclear power station. Practically carbon free, and zero running cost too, providing you run the pipe at night so you’re not seen.

Gas boilers will shortly become a thing of the past.
The big new thing will be heat pumps with a compressor like a fridge except it works in reverse.
Heat pump tumble dryers came out a few years ago and the same technology is being developed to heat homes and provide hot water
