Never had my car nicked, parents had their car nicked few years back in eastbourne from a car park and it was found by the police parked it a cul de sac. They told us the location and dropped us off there to pick it up, all these kids came out (clearly the ones that nicked the car) and started asking whos it was etc had it been stolen (as if they didnt know!). No one ever caught for it though.

yes about eighteen months ago, it was recovered thirty or so miles away the next day as a write off. they caught the kid that did it, i believe it was his 8 or 9th twoc in two months.

we were going to replace it anyway and the insurance paid out more than to cover the new car so it worked out pretty much ok. everything in it was gone though - the children's car seats, some photos in the glove box and stuff like that that bothered us more than the actual car.

Mate of mine had his nicked, joyridden and put back in the carpark minus radio, CDs, etc - he only noticed it straight off as they put it in the wrong space when they came back! Cops got them, and most of the stuff back though.

My G reg Nova was nicked from outside my dad's house in Seaford on Boxing Day a few years ago. I got three parking tickets and a fine from the DVLA as I (obviously) didn't renew the tax on it, despite having reported it stolen - all of which were eventually rescinded. It was found three months later, by which time I'd bought a new car on the assumption that the Nova had been torched.

One of my ex-Work collegues has had his BMW 320D nicked from a hotel we were staying at in Swansea on Wednesday night.

I shouldn't laugh but the guy somehow either left his keys in it or he managed to pop them nicely in the thiefs pocket, it's not as if it was a coat hanger and hot wire job!!

:nono:

I think he is feeling abit of a knob now.
He now has to explain to the insurance company why he is not caught on the CCTV locking it!!

Does anyone know whether the insurance will cough up if he did not lock it?

Ps. it was only a few months old approx value £25,000.

Insurance company won't pay if you dont secure your car, does it not automagically lock though? My Seat Ibiza does if the keys are out of the ignition for more than 60seconds it auto locks

I am not sure as my Skoda Fabia does but i also have a 320d and i have not noticed it before.

If he dropped the keys in the car park do you think the Insurance co will pay up????

Had my car nicked a few years ago from outside of the garage that had done £1000 worth of work on it ! didn't know it had been stolen until after I paid for the work. Long story short it turned up a few days later having been stripped. Very much like an inside job as the car was stored out of site (I was told). Told garage that I wanted my money back and ended up suing them, I won.

Just to add insult to injury though the Filth accused me of stealing my own car ! When I asked them how they had worked that out the said 'well it seems odd'.

Wankers !:censored:

Oh yeah, just remembered my brother in law had his Audi A6 nicked from the garage while it was in for a service - some guy just walked in and took the keys from the workshop as if he was an mechanic. Garage had accepted they were going to have to cover it when it was found, unharmed, dumped on a green area in an EXTREMELY rough council estate. When he went out to collect it there were three police officers minding it!

Baby seat taken and some CDs taken, which the garage covered + some sum as an apology.

I had a mate who had a similar thing happen to him in Guildford.

Unfortunately some garages leave customers keys far to easy to beng stolen.
