We had a thread on this yesterday, and I don't understand why places are advertising this, as it can't be being shown legally. We all know there are hookey foreign sites streaming it, but surely pubs can't be advertising they are doing it.

i thought it was only illegal if the game is also on sky sports or a british carrier

can highly recommend the mooch burger for anyone whose peckish during the game. arguably the best ive ever had. gutted ill be in stoke now really

For a start, I was under the impression it was not legal to show any game at 15:00 on a Sat, apart from the FA Cup final - but I may be wrong about that. Unless the ruling a couple of weeks ago about showing foreign channel sport over here has changed things, I'm almost sure it's not legal - otherwise you'd find most 3 o'clock prem games being shown live somewhere. I don't really care either way really.

I think it has changed things, in the respect that any challenege against the bar would be unenforceable for the time being.

Ah, maybe - I thought it was an interim judgement pending appeals, but I guess people are assuming it won't be enforced for now until it is finalised one way or the other.

Crawley
My local in Crawley shows 3 live premierships games every Saturday at 3pm via various feeds, they say it is legal as they are via foreign satalites so theres nothing the premier league can do about it, they sell the premier league to these TV channels in the first place so they cant complain. This saturday as well as Brighton v Stoke they are showing Notts Forest v Cardiff (for some reason) and Birmingham v Sheff Wed.

This went to court last week when a Hampshire (?) landlady challenged Skys' right to stop her showing foreign channels. I think they found in her favour temporarily, as I say, waiting appeals. You can bet your life Sky will do something to stop it somehow - or just charge more for current services.

These screenings are great in the short term - but in the long term they are bad news for football. Your club is not doing so well - are you going to pay your £40 for yout ticket - or go down the pub and watch it and buy a few beers.

Its not about just that cost though, is it?

away games bring massive costs....travel, beers, ticket, beers, food, beers etc...not to mention the time away for a long-ish distance trip like Stoke.

If a pub is showing the game locally and you CANT make the game, then of course its great for fans to be able to still watch their team..... however i agree if its poss to go to the game then go, but its not always possible.

Especially this season when every league game is so crucial i would rather miss an fa cup game than a league away game at the moment.

I see all that - and if you can't make it to the away game it is very handy. It is more the home games - for pay on the day support sitting in the pubs in town.

Not a problem for us in the short term. But we have had a few seasons in the championship, the novelty has worn off, Gus has gone, it is easy to get Amex tickets. People are in town having a couple of pints pre-game - and the game is on in a pub down the road. Or phone and sort your ticket, get on the bus/train/taxi to the Amex. Short term - not a problem. Long term - there could be more empty seats.
