This should be the transition season where Walton moves from #2 to #1. He should have half the starts for the first couple of months and be given the chance to prove he can have them all. Conversely DS [& Ank] should be stepping aside but snapping at his heels, making him justify his position in the squad and providing support (and training) to help him make the move up.

The 16/17 season should then (all if goes well) be CW's first season as full, undisputed #1.

I don't know of any club that put their 19 year old keeper in as number 1, without experience. Krul, who has been at Newcastle since he was a youth, went out on loan to Falkirk and then Carlisle, before coming back to be the number 1.
Christian Walton is going to be a good keeper, but it's good for his development to go to a lower league team for experience.

That is the perceived wisdom of "English football people" but frankly we all know what they have delivered since 1966. The test however is much simpler, is Walton a worse keeper than Stockdale? Walton has not put a put foot wrong, and was dropped after getting into the team for no reason other than his age. Stockdale didnt earn that keep[ers number 1 slot, Walton did but we dropped Walton. That is not how sport should work. Poor management of another young player to have dropped him and then to now ship him out on loan. You earn your right in the side and then if you do no wrong you stay there, no matter who (never mind an accident prone number 1) is in the reserves.

Lot of sense here

It's the Albion tho' the coaching staff will get it all wrong by leaving common sense at home and have a very good excuse as to why they got it so badly wrong. Why did they drop Walton before he had even made a mistake after he broke in the side? Answer is his age. Its a pathetic reason and now they ship him out on loan. Sorry but its another example of poor management. Bloom should call this decision in, and ask why also we have missed out on Cook, Elphick, Vokes and Murray. Does anyone down there know anything about football?

But Stockdale did earn his #1 spot. He did it by being a Premier League standard 'keeper that Fulham fans were angry when he was sold. Much is made of DS's mistakes but in reality they aren't that common (but you would think he was letting in a hat-full every week judging by some of the comments)
Can you honestly see Jose Mourinho let a 19 year-old take the place of Cech? Courtois is 23 next week and has earned his spurs by coming through the ranks in Belgium - and he is regarded as possibly the future Best Goalkeeper in the World!
It's far, far too early to say Walton is the best 'keeper at the club, he's still learning. He's played a few senior games and has done very well but to my mind he hasn't really been tested in any seriousness yet

Bloom aside, who exactly, coaching staff wise, is left at the club who had anything to do with Cook, Elphick, Vokes and Murray leaving the Albion.
or for that matter "dropping" Walton after he "broke into the side" . (you mean Sami i assume)...

What do you want Bloom to do about it. Give Gus a ring ? Ask em out for a curry and have it out once and for all. ?

Walton didn't earn the spot, either. He got a chance to play for two games because Stockdale was injured. Then Stockdale recovered and re-took his place.

Why did he re take his place given that he had been accident prone before he was injured and Walton was not in the games he played. there was no reason to drop him, he was in possession of the shirt and so why did they take it off him? Soft management, poor management, they let Stockdale back in for no reason other than age. Pathetic reason, and now a bright young prospect is out on loan. Who knows what Walton could have done this season but one thing is for sure, they had no reason to drop him but they did. The clunb has failed with Murray, Vokes, Elphick, Cook and now this. Error after error, excuse after excuse, failure after failure. When will the Albion decide that if you do well you play no matter anything else. Nobody should walk back into the side, especially when they were rubbish when they got injured. It needs a harder edge down there.

Ulloa last season? Bridcutt before that?

Nobody should walk back into the side if someone is doing well (and in Walton's case) better than the person who got injured. You break back into the side hungry, you do not have it handed to you by a waiter wearing white gloves

I'm pretty much convinced that you are just trolling now - either that or you need to find a new hobby, as football supporting clearly isn't something you enjoy.

Just in case you are NOT trolling, let's look at your actual point;

1. Stockdale was actually in decent form when he got injured, having played well at Huddersfield, then pulling off a couple of absolute worldies in the last game (Rotherham at home) before his injury.

2. Walton then came in and let two in at Spurs, one of which Stockdale would definitely have been (harshly) blamed for by some on here.

3. Walton was left out for the next game, not for Stockdale (who was still injured) but for Al Habsi.

4. Walton then got the place back as AAH went off with Oman. He kept a clean sheet v Wigan, then cost us two points (again by the ridiculously harsh standards imposed on Stockdale) v Blackburn.

5. Stockdale came back in and made a couple of great saves at Norwich...

Basically you are just making it all up to suit your tedious anti club crusade.

I am too old to "troll". Your selective version of Stockdale from the start of the season to Walton getting in the side misses the point. He did not deserve the rolls royce treatment. The "certainly you can walk back into the side". He was dreadful, with error after error and Walton was in charge of the sghirt, so why drop him? Age was the excuse. A pathetic reason. You earn the right to play. As for anti club message then its actually pro club to point out that our footballing experts have failed time and again. Murray, Cook, Elphick, Vokes and we have what now? Its pro club to say its not good enough. Its pro club to say now rather than when Walton is gone to be replaced by someone not as good that this is not good enough.

Sorry mate your version of Stockdale performances are way off , he has not gone more than 3 games without making a howler , he has never been in good form , as for making great saves apart from a couple I can't remember that many . I have much more confidence in a young Walton than Stockdale any day , let's face it what a waste of money sooner we get rid the better

Sorry mate but it's you who is way off. Not gone more than three games? What constitutes a howler in your view? Because I haven't seen many, and I've seen over 90% of Stockdale's games for us

Don't waste your time responding to the tiger tim troll. He literally only posts in Stockdale threads, to slag him off.

He goes all quite when arguing against somebody who has been to more than nil away games this season.
