[Albion] Still keeping the faith with Potter?

In what way harsh? I’m just stating I have enjoyed this season a lot more. Hughton did a great job in our time with us but even the games we won last season were hard work to watch.

Personally I think the football we’re playing this season is on a different level and in the long run will move us a lot further forward than the way we played the last 2 seasons. It is still really early days under Potter and yet he has improved us massively.
We were all enjoying ourselves hugely up until about last Christmas, second season in the promised land and half way up the table. Yes, we'd had a couple of dodgy 1-0 wins we didn't deserve - but, grinding out results when not playing well - well, isn't that what the top teams have been doing for years?
Just as there are a few tiresome people still sore that we sacked CH, there are an equally tiresome few who are trying to discount or downgrade everything CH achieved with us. Writing off - in retrospect, of course - our first two seasons in the PL sounds a bit like the latter.

We are playing really well but a lack of quality is making us wasteful with our chances which will only improve by adding real quality to the squad.

Would also like us to improve our game management under potter with parts of games warranting a different approach to see off the opposition. Especially after the half time re-start where we know the opposition will have a reaction but we play too expansively

Still think we will stay up comfortably but have to find a way of turning performances into points

Can’t quite agree with that....if we take last seasons game at Tottenham it was like a battle at the Alamo with no chance of winning and we duly conceded and agonisingly lost ...tad different than today....

Eh. We all experience these games in our own way. I think there is a degree of glibness in my comment. But at the same time, for me last season at Spurs wasn't the Alamo, more a case of 'we won't keep this up for 90 minutes... Oh look I was right - they've eventually got the goal they were always going to get'.

For so many games over the last couple of seasons I've gone expecting to lose and often that's what happens, and in such a way that it was always going to happen. When we won it was all the greater because I didn't expect it (sometimes even while we were winning I was just waiting for the comeback from whomever we were playing). It would be boring and predictable, but with that came a relaxed resignation to the result. This year, whether I go to the game expecting to win or lose, the stress is there because we play well and I start thinking we could get something, and our mistakes (or attacking shortcomings) frustrate and stress me out. As stat says and the cliche goes, 'it's the hope that kills you'.

The worry at the moment is home form. It seems to have dipped since Norwich we were dominating games earlier in the season and creating lots of chances. Last 3 against better opposition and we've been poor, and have barely created anything. We need to improve our home form big time.

Let's also hope that potter is good at grinding out those 6 pointers that hughton was so disasterous at. For all the pretty football I see no evidence of us digging deeper and getting in a scrap. We are just too nice.

Feel concerned at the moment.

There is still the option of playing the way he wants to play. Get into the he lead and then shut up shop. Grind out some 1 - 0 wins or 1-1 draws. There's your potential happy medium but maybe he can't or won't or maybe even ...... ....... .....to do that. But it would be an option.

Good point but I’m not sure Potter has a defensive bone in his body! Oh that we could have a mix of CH and GP!

I can hand on heart say despite the overall results so far GP is our most exciting manager since Poyet.

It is a results business undoubtedly, and the bed wetters will soon start speaking up. But anyone who has watched all our games this season (full 90 mins, not highlights on Match Of The Day) can surely see the immense revolution Graham is under-seeing here. The football we are playing is superb and unrecognisable from last season. And we finally have a manager who’s tactically flexible and not afraid to throw youngsters in.

I sincerely believe if we had the run of the green we’d be about 7 points better off.

I’m still keeping the faith. Are you?

What revolution??? Playing possession football with Lewis Dunk having the most passes?? What a joke!

Agree, for all the plaudits that have been given to GP for our style of play, he seems unable to produce a safe and steady defence. It’s all ok employing defenders that can pick a pass and run with the ball but I’d rather have defenders that have ability in defending first. The defence has been our strong point for the last 2 seasons. He needs to sort this out. Unfortunately the defence and goalkeeper have been at fault for far too many goals this season. It wouldn’t be so much of a problem if we were banging in loads of goals but we are struggling to score.
Currently 2 pts off the bottom 3. Jury is out for me!

Jury is certainly still out! Will be interesting to see the reaction in the 2nd half of the season when the heat is turned up!

Let it go and a Merry Christmas to you and the rest of the Hughton (Albion Legend) family

This is what I worry about. We still don't seem to have enough back to the wall fighters in the team. I can't see how we are gonna be better in the 6 pointers this season.

IF we do get relegated, which I hope we avoid, I would like to think that TB and PB would realise that for all the praise that he gets the team with him in charge cannot defend. I do not think that he would take us back up. He spent £20m+ on a defender who cannot defend, that is not the way forward.

The defender who gave us the lead? Struggling to see how Webster can be blamed for a narrow defeat when so many expected us to lose by much more.

I fecking despair of the entitlement of so many fans when we lose at Spurs.

Its a tough life being an Albion player, one minute you're enemy number one, then next a first half hero v Spuds.
FFS we are a fickle bunch :lolol:

Some of our fans behave like a four letter word beginning with C when we lose. We are minnows in this league and it’s all about survival. At least we look like we belong this season

I would like to think the recruitment team, Dan Ashworth and Graham Potter know a bit more about a defenders abilities than you....
