We certainly shouldn't follow the lead of the chap last night (in or around seat L 190) who shouted "You're a ****ing idiot Webster" during open play when he was right in front of the Albion fans and would certainly have heard.

How is this helpful?

Webster is clearly his current player-of-hate as he'd done absolutely nothing wrong at all in the game up to that point. The fan in question seemed incensed at our attempts at playing out from goalkicks when pressured, but the preceding passage of play had seen a near-calamity between Ryan and Dunk. Webster played no part in that at all.

Thank god Bong didn't feature...

What you’re forgetting is there a large number of absolute ***** that follow football. Pricks like this will always be around, just the sad truth.

Even if Webster had ****ed up left, right and centre last night - and he hadn't - bawling that at him during the middle of a game is never going to have a positive outcome, is it?

Last night was a poor result, there is no getting away from that.

However.... I believe we are just a couple of players away from being a very good side.

Form in temporary, Southampton have proved that, because they kept doing what they believed in and it started to work. The same can happen for us, we just need a lift to make that happen.

Last night we had plenty of opportunities to score.... and I don’t just mean the shots we had on goal, the amount of time we have the ball in and around the opponents box is incredible compared to last season and even before that. What we don’t have is a cutting edge, whether that is a striker or a CM who actually gambles and gets into the the box I don’t know.

The fragility of our midfield needs to change, its all well and good moaning at Dunk/Webster/Alzate for moving the ball out slowly from the back, but with the lack of movement from the four players in front of them last night that’s why we make mistakes and put pressure on ourselves.

Watching the highlights back their keeper made a “lucky” save to deny Maupay in the first half hour, the ball hitting his hand as opposed to his hand moving towards / stopping the ball. Inches either side and it’s a goal, we’re one nil up, enjoying 65% possession and the final result is different. Yes we need to improve but sometimes a bit of good fortune can make all the difference between winning and losing.

Let’s be honest ,when locadia , knocky and andone were allowed to leave we all thought the team looked to lightweight . Questions the club need to answer

Indeed. Three tricky characters, with different skills, who wanted to play!!!, would have offered threats up front...and needed a bit of effort from the manager and coaches. I bet we don't buy anyone better than those three during January.

Locadia hasn't started a game since November. It is probably true that you're never better than when you're out of the team!

That is a very good summary of where we are at.

Cool heads and professionalism is needed from the club now.

A crisis meeting to assess what needs to be done by the club in the next 9 days - eg. recall Mac Allister, recall Molumby, sign a striker etc. - would be very wise.

And other than Locadia who is toilet, the other 2 if fit are good enough players...... Their sidelining being temperament and not ability.

Fair enough, but good managers and coaches should embrace the handling of tricky temperament - Potter says he is all about improving the players...part of that is to improve their temperament

Keep the faith, I keep saying it, the margins are incredibly tight in the division this season, and we have come a long way.
This is a short term choppy sea; it will pass if we all believe,s just like Warren said.
Bluff fans believed last night and really got behind the fans even though we ran them ragged for 30 mins from the start.

What's alarming is to often we've been the better team and not won. And when we're the worse team we lose.

Can anyone recall when we were the worse team but dug out a win?

If we cant win when we're playing OK, we have next to no chance when we're not.

I need to follow European football more closely 😉. I know Locadia was fairly unpopular but I felt he could have been developed more by us.

Certainly don't need a repetition of the scenes towards towards the back end of last season when the atmosphere at the Amex turned a bit toxic and fans were at each others throats.

It’s already started.

The usual thing: gallows humour or loud gripes triggering others, leading to angry exchanges, squaring up, and jostling before the stewards wade in.

Unhappily, I can see this continuing over the next couple of months. We’ve gone into relegation battle mode.

I just see it as we need to be a bit more direct up top and also have a bit of luck, Solly playing last night was a big plus as he tries to wind the ball in early, defenders hate that.

If Pickford ,Reina and Ramsdale hadn't pulled off blinding saves in the last three games against us this board would be more worried about NSC Winter Naps and let's count to 5 million or whatever it is.
Small margins not going our way currently

Everton at home? Pretty lucky to dig out anything from that game. Relied on a pretty dodgy VAR decision for a penalty and a last minute winner....

Still think the team is good enough to survive though we need serious reinforcements in the summer, including a game-changer like (dare I say it?) Zaha.

Thought Trossard might be that player earlier in the season but he blows pretty hot and cold. Reminds me of Knocky without the attitude!

We've played pretty well most games and I think fortunes will change....
