Basically because it wasn't too long ago that it was the only way you could guarantee to get in.

Now with the stadium capacity extended and crowds down to just over 5,000, the attractions of getting a season ticket are much less than they used to be.

In that context, it would surely be sensible business practise for Knight/Perry to come up with additional incentives to ensure people renew.

It's going to be a long old struggle to get to Falmer if Lewes succeed in reopening the inquiry and surely the club survival will depend on keeping 4,000 people handing over £2 million, year-in, year-out.

The floating fans have melted away since the crowds we got at the beginning of the season, and season ticket holders now make up over 80 per cent of the Albion crowd. Knight/Perry need a charm offensive to these people prior to the renewal requests going out in a couple of months' time.

Knight and Perry need to sort a few things out - definitely need to use some of DK's much documented marketing expertise - On this front club have been found wanting for years tickets wise or with any marketing /money making opportunity the list of cock ups is endless.

New shirts at times have not been ready pre season or for the first few weeks how much revenue has been lost?

The centenery video still that saga goes on.

The latest cup tickets disaster.

There are many more.

Ah yes, the Gullhanger generation. Whatever happened to that lot?

Mike Ward was asking me the other day as we were watching the game, "whatever happened to the Safeway generation"? :(

That's why I started going the season ticket route. Just got fed up spending a couple of hours on the phone every week to the ever-engaged ticket office, or begging for a ticket via a variety of sources. Must have sat in every part of the ground the season we beat Reading to the title, and sometimes couldn't pick up a spare til an hour before kick-off. Watched the last home game of the season in the Swindon end (me and a hundred others). That was the season the ticket ballot came in, and the ticket office staff spent as much time returning uncashed cheques to unsuccessful applicants as they did sendiong out tickets. Seems like an age ago.

Now I just renew cos it guarantees me a seat in H Block among non-whining chums, and a bit of atmosphere. But it's becoming a costly exercise. The tickets have little or no sell-on value so if you go on holiday or *cough* have to attend a wedding, then you're basically waving cheerio to twenty notes a game. Expensive luxury aye?

Because I want to sit in the same seat (it's a pretty good view) with the same people each week. Me and 5 of my mates sat together week in week out, we'd NEVER arrange that on a game to game basis.

Also, it works out cheaper, because I miss very few games, and using one of the other 5 will take spare tickets for friends / relations.

I certainly do NOT buy it with potential BIG games in mind.
