They were perfectly pleasant to us.

agreed, they were fine with us as well.... TRY SITTING DOWN. I was actually suprised that there weren't more people thrown out yesterday. Had I been a steward I would have thrown out a few to make an example... The rest would have soon followed.

I could see the stewards making an effort to get people to sit down and polite request was blatently ignored over and over again. I personally would have thrown a few repeat offenders out and made examples of them.... Bet the rest would quickly have sat down. I saw people being asked at least 4-5 times to sit down and were blatently ignored.

I was puzzled at first as to who the little bloke looking like a senior office clerk from the ministry, circa 1930's, was until I saw his ear piece and witnessed the first person being escorted away to room 101 only to be allowed to return again a few minutes later. I wonder what the ministry said to them down there ?

In fairness to the Mark McGhee lookylikey, he did take the chant on the chin and with a smile on his face. I didn't hear the two drunk fans from where I was but thought the moment when one of them started showing the stewards the yellow then red card was quite funny.

The rules are the rules, just because some clubs are enforcing it and some are being more lax doesn't give anyone the right to abuse the person who has been tasked with enforcing a rule they had nothing to do.

Its the twattish behavior of some fans moaning about it that makes it all rather unpleasant for everyone else.

Sit down and shut up, and thank your lucky stars that some clubs turn a blind eye...

Complete muppetry on this thread. Standing does no one any harm.

Except the person in the seat behind who cant see, who also may not be able to stand for whatever reason.
Completely selfish behaviour for which deserves to be kicked out of the ground.

If you struggle to stand for the full game then sit at the front, every away game i have been to people have stood up so it's not like it's going to be a big supprise for anyone who has been befor.

Surely it's better that everyone is standing for the whole game compared to having to stand up/sit down every now and then because something has happened.

Personally I don't like standing for the whole game, and I sit in the seat I'm allocated.

So thanks but its better from my perspective that everyone sits for the whole game...

Its grim up north
I'm a long way from UK right now so on an enforced absence from Albion matches. Leeds away is a game I always go to, always get wound up big time before the match, always go in big hope and always come home in a seriously bad mood because of prattish Leeds fans, stewards etc. Everything about Leeds is bad.

Reading this thread actually makes me glad I couldn't make it this year

According to 2 stewards I chucked a missile and so they chucked me out of the ground. I don't have a clue where this missile came from or when I even threw it, just an excuse to pick on someone I suppose.

Sounds like you're the selfish one...

Errr .... why ? She buys a ticket for a seat and sits in it as the rules require. The selfish ones are the ones that stand.

I was standing right at the back on the right side ,and was targetted by stewards
whom I chose to ignore. I fully understand the regulations and job briefs of the stewards,
most of whom I respect. The stewards yesterday though were just plain irritating
and lacked common sense.

In the 3-1 at leeds last season they had some right lumps of 'private security' in the lower part of the cheese wedge, nasty bastards just picking on people and making peoples day shit!

i hate the arguement about people paying for their ticket bla bla bla so they should be able to sit down and enjoy the game, its an away game everyone should stand and make an atmosphere and i dont care if thats selfish on the 5% who have to sit! all the prem teams away from home stand teh entire game why shouldnt we with smaller crowds? and whats the diference between standing at leeds and villa?

As with most things in life, there's a common sense compromise to keep everybody happy that can and should be reached. At Orient the other week a steward said the following ( or words to this effect ) to someone standing near me : " Mate, I have no problem with you standing, so if you want to stand can you just move up the back please. There's still room up there". Sorted. No arguments, no complaints, everybody happy

Sounds like you're the selfish one...

Why ? because she does what is expected, like sitting ? No it's people with your attitude that are selfish, does it not cross your mind that some people can't stand for the whole game ?

Probably not, doesn't look like thinking is your strongest suit.

The point is that the only game this season where you may have had to sit in your allocated seat is Aston Villa away. So why make a big deal about sitting in your allocated seat, if it's at the back, where people will want to stand?

If I want to stand at an away game I will go at the back of the stand so I won't be stopping people from sitting. So if you want to sit at an away game, go to the front of the stand where you won't stop people from standing. Simple.

Sure, that's fine if it's an option but not all clubs have the same idea of what is expected. As such the stewards were merely doing their job. The plain fact is that legally you are expected to sit but I suppose you think that's wrong. The reason people have to sit in a seat is because of disasters like Hillsborough, there is a reason why they want you to sit.
