Some of our stewarts are complete PRICKS (generally the one's inside the ground) others are excellent.

I can't believe people are being so sanctimonious about 'entering the field of play'. It was a cup upset, possibly the biggest in our modern day history there was always going to be a pitch invasion. There is an unwritten rule about that and there is no good reason to tackle a pitch invader unless deemed a danger to persons/players/officials.

From my vantage point of the G Block, I saw one steward chase an early invader and absolutely nail him. Whether or not the laws permit a pitch invasion, there is absolutely no good reason to 'attack' a fan when thousands are doing the same.

I stewarded at Cheltenham, Wembley and some various events to pay my way through uni and sadly there are some complete nutters and psycho's who are on a massive power trip when they don THE yellow jacket.

I don't think you, Mr Truth, stand any chance of getting this guy thrown out, but it would be nice if you could. 'Minimum force' is the course that all stewards are supposed to adhere to, but obviously not in this case and many other cases (from personal experience). It did seem that there are a large amount of stewards that are nobodies who gain very little respect in life and seek to impose themselves on the customers....those who contribute to their wages.

No it's not I didn't feel the need to run on the pitch. The people who stayed in the stands are just as overwhelmed by the occasion, but they manage to stay in their seat and celebrate.

Some people like full fat milk, others like semi-skimmed and weirdos like skimmed milk.

Whilst politely applauding the team off the pitch prior to putting their flask of unfinished Bovril back into their Roy Cropper stylee bag.

For crying out loud, I didn't go onto the pitch but if I'd had been closer then I would have done-when do we Albion fans have memorable moments these days? Enjoy them for all they are worth.

I havnt actually posted a reply on here for years, just read the threads and minded my own.....but on this occasion i feel i have to put my two pence worth in.
I was there last night and saw the pitch invasion which even a blind man could see was going to happen due the large build up of supporters around the advertising hordings leaving the stewards out numbered well and truly. From what you have stated and if that is the truth and you're not leaving somthing out then regardless of the fact you are on the pitch the stewards or anyone else involves in the physical removal of a person from premises and even police can only use as much force as is reasonable in the circumstances.

I personally do think you have a case due to the fact that steward will have to justify why you were singled out by him, justify why he used the amount of force that fractured your wrist even though there were around 2000 other people doing the same thing. He would have to explain what he intended to do by grabbing you ie to escort you out but this makes no sense as you were in fact in company with 2000 other pitch invaders.
He quite simply lost it and "Red Misted" and has assaulted you.
My advice....write out a full account of what happened including full description (other than orange jacket). Any where you saw him in the ground before the incident, where on the pitch it happened, and if you saw him after. This will help point him out on camera. Any people with you who saw the incident or any other stewards that saw the incident. What he said before during and after.
Do this now while its still fresh in your mind and will help if you have to make a statement to the police.
Your call mate, but i would be calling my solicitor as soon as i left hospital.

as a steward, my advice is forget that the truth went on to the pitch as it was exceptional standards, and the only way that it was not going to happen was if city won. My point being If indeed your wrist has been damaged then it is excessive force and should be reported to the club with the description of the steward,it brings a bad name to those of us who do the job properly.

I've worked at football grounds as a steward in past times, & I completely agree with the quoted post. He's bang out of order imo & you should take it further. I went onto the pitch last night to celebrate & was actually invited to do so by a Steward who had a handle on the nature of the situation! So, whoever you were, thank you very kindly

brighton, actually
perhaps the club should get the match tape to ID all 'offenders' who ran on to the pitch, and have them arested / banned..

along with the steward who (allegedly) attacked fractured wrist man..

No place for violence-

either on or off the pitch..

or whether you are a fan, a player, or a rentahug (sorry, steward).

Including a very well know person who has fought tooth and nail for falmer who I saw run on the pitch with his son.

Do me a favour, it was obvious it was going to happen after we had scored the winning penalty and had no effect whatsoever on the game. I am not a steward but if I was my defence would rightly have been I chased after him and as the pitch was wet he obviously slipped and fell; end of story.

:thud:

And here was me thinking it took all sorts.

what do you mean here?

Personally, being stuck up in Row P of G block, amongst mates, and new friends made on the night, we had a great view of what was happening on the pitch, and in fact felt we had an important part, when the pitch fans started singing to the South Stand, and us back to them.

Last night I saw a video of Arsenal vs Southampton from 1992. Arsenal scored and a fan ran on the pitch to celebrate. No stewards went near him, instead, just waiting until he'd finished running around like a loon for 15 seconds and escorting him back to his seat... that says it all to me.

I hope the bastard gets fired.
