Brown cuts across him and Gerrard puts his arm up to stop himself clattering into him.

Grow a pair, you lot. It's a MAN'S game.

Agreed, but like I've previously posted he was a bit clumsy.

Michael Browns a right little shit, probably deserved it. He runs across Gerrard and puts his arm up so I'd guess Gerrard just tried to knock him out of the way.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making out, it's just very clumsy.

A clumsy attempt at premeditated assault you mean?

It was thuggish frankly and that from the captain of England?
I'd rather have the serial shagger back.

Course he will get away with it as the ref will say he saw it and punished it with a free kick but anywhere outside of a football pitch that would be an arrestable offence

Brown is a menace. He has attempted to end so many careers it's ridiculous. A swift one two to the head is the least he deserves.

Gerrard should get a ban for that. I really don't understand why he did it, given the fact his team were well on top and he wasn't anywhere near in a goalscoring position.

No, that's Rio Ferdinand

Who is nearly ALWAYS injured.

What price we go down the Ryder Cup route and nominate a "non-playing captain"? No prizes for guessing who that would be.

Because he's a mindless thug?

I've never been convinced by Gerrard - sure he looks great with his (far less frequent nowadays) one man rescue jobs for Liverpool, but I don't rate him so much as a team player. I often wonder if Liverpool would be better off without him - less reliant on him, so more of a collective effort. I fully expect him to go, but on this season's form I would not be bothered if he didn't make the world cup squad.

Genuine question:

Can anyone recall a really GOOD performance from Gerrard at all this season? Been totally anonymous, hasn't he?

From the BBC Sport website:

Steven Gerrard to face no action from the Football Association over his clash with Michael Brown.

Repeatedly punch pub-goer in the face? Self defence.

Stick your fingers up in a ref's face and tell him to f*** OFF? No, just looked like it.

Run 30 yards to inflict a forearm SMASH round the back of someone's head? Nah, just a clumsy coming-together.

Poor Stevie G, he's always getting mistakenly taken for a violent, arrogant C-nt. I feel sorry for him.

It is very strange that he keeps getting away with it. However, can't help but notice the extent to which the Gerrard knockers are absolutely loving the ammunition this story is providing.
