Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't part of the purpose of these games for players to show their ability and hence enhance the possibility of cementing a first team place? These should be played with enthusiasm because of this, isn't the point to impress the manager and supporters? If the "Oh, it's only a friendly" attitude is taken, what's the f**king point in playing them?
If you play s**t in the pre season and lack the right attitude now, don't be surprised at warming the subs bench at the season kick off.:tosser:
A display of some effort would help justify the wage bill, happy or not they are still getting paid, f**king premadonnas, makes me f**king sick.

Let's just hope that the players can be bothered when the real business starts next month. The danger is that they think they're better than they actually are.

calm down! These games mean absolutely nothing they are glorified training sessions. Yesterday Man Utd beat Malaysia by one goal does that mean they are only just better than them? If I remember rightly Crewe last season beat Hull 3-0 and anyone at Crewe first game of the season will tell you how woeful they were.

Good to see a defeat, even a meaningless one, can still bring on a half hearted NSC binfest. The Slade out thread was the most predictable thing to happen on this board this month, good work

I thought the main problem with the team, both in the first and second half, was lack of distribution from the midfield into space to bring the forwards into play. As a result, all our forwards became isolated and grateful for long balls punted into the penalty area.

A midfielder with time and distribution would unlock our creative forwards. Spiller looked OK but I'm not sure he is the answer. All other midfielders chased around but there was little creativity, and it was left to Whing to set up Harty's goal.

I enjoyed the occasion a lot. Its a nice little ground and the locals were very friendly.

I thought there was a similar problem tuesday! Especially in the middle as crofts and Spiller didnt seem to create much at all (apart from the 1 ball for the goal) and everything else seemed to go down the wings, mostly with Wright. Second half Dicker seemed to sit deep, and playing alongside El abd gave us no creativity. Still think the one player we lack is someone in the centre of the park to run with the ball and have a shot, something i dont remember seeing a single one of our central midfielders doing on tuesday.

That is good though as it emphasises our need for the midfield to be reinforced. RS has already said that is his target...2 midfielders from the championship and a premiership winger and 1 other....

If the squad was complete then it would be a different matter....

Was at the game, truely shocking performance by Brighton! Looked like we didn't give a shit all game. Completely played off the park. I have to say, what is the name of their right back, wearing number 2, he was by far the best player on the park, passing, tackling, taking players on...that guy was amazing, GET HIM ON TRAIL!

Spot on. The defence - Lynch, Virgo, Elphick, Whing - look fine but if we have money to spend, two decent central midfield players are what we desperately need IMO.

Crewe made us look like Champions elect , even Hawkins , McLeod and Livermore stood out as exceptional players.
