I'm almost positive I saw Steven North on the bus on the way home from Withdean last night.

But surely a man of his status would be picked up by a chaeuffer driven car

Anyone else see him or was I being delusional? :D

Steve is a lifelong Albion fan (hence the book of course)... I drink in the pub with him before games from time to time (not alone, but in a group of like minded people).

He does post on here sometimes, so I won't go on to say what a wonderful, talented and down to earth chap he is, for fear of embarassing him.

And you are aware that he was co-author of 'Build a Bonfire' - hence my 'the book' comment above..?

Seriously? It is part of your indoctrination - a rights of passage, if you like - into being a Brighton fan. World-class reading.

Bit late for an indoctrination and rights of passage, been supporting them since circa '74!

This must have passed right over me! But to be honest, I'm not surprised as I'm not really a bookworm. :D

I will look it up on Amazon using the NSC link of course Bozza :lolol:

You'll be lucky. Not even the authors have their own copy...

Aaah - you see, here's the clever bit. When an ACTOR performs in a show, what they basically do is PRETEND to be a different person. They are actually told what to say, and how to act. That's why if you meet one in real life they tend to not be exactly like they are on the show in question.

Its clever isn't it?

An excellent book in its own right - I think even a non football fan would enjoy the account of the struggle to keep the club alive.

I got my copy in a cheap book shop in Greenwich around 8 years ago - they had a pile of signed copies at 99p each! Silly me I only bought one seeing the price that they go for on eBay now is£40 - £50!

I have met Steve too and he is a great bloke. Saw him down the Komedia a while back in a two man play called 'Meeting Joe Strummer' which was bloody excellent. Loads of great Clash tunes to boot. He also had something to do with the film version of the football factory but not sure exactly what!

Steve is very well recognised. When he came to my wedding reception there were people from far afield asking if he WAS the lovable one from London's Burning?

Mind you, he was gazumped by someone recognising another of my friends from the Haribo advert!!
