his goal in this game tonight was a f***ing monster.

doesn't matter what colour tshirt you're wearing, if you can do that (which he does regularly) you are a top draw player.

shame he couldn't give a f*** about england. he could do a job :dunce:

When he plays for England, it's like someone flicks a Beckham switch in his head, meaning he feels the need to hit endless long, aimless passes with the outside of his boot, which inevitably go straight to defenders.

When he plays for Liverpool, he gets the ball, he passes it, he gets it back, he passes it, he scores a goal. He doesn't try to be flash all the time.

His passing accuracay, for example. May be shit for England but good for Liverpool.

Ah. I think APPLICATION might be a better word, then. His ability to make those passes is the same in any shirt, he just doesn't necessarily use it so well.

There's a surprise. May I ask why you have decided to advertise your age?

It wasn't because it was directed at you, it's just a play-on on your name (of course it wouldn't be funny if said to anyone else as it wouldn't make sense but you know what I mean) and the way he said it, tickled me.

I have decided to advetise as people have assumed on more than one occasion that I am 15 or at school, so there it is.....

<--------- (just, a bit higher)

MOST, not ALL, managers would want him because most, not all, teams don't play against the most technically gifted players in the world each week.

At the HIGHEST level, and by that I mean the best international sides, he's found out.

Shame to see you can't get involved in even the most simple of debates without a patronising comment by the way:glare:

i'd like you to name one club on the planet, whose first team he wouldn't stroll into.

not going to enter the debate, but am just interested to see if you think there are any.

Didn't play against Croatia and it was our best performance for ages.
Perhaps Lampard is the better England option.

that does, however, depend on his team mates. he can't pick them out if they're hiding for 90 minutes a la lampard in an england shirt

But he WOULD stroll into the England team if they were set up to exploit the way he plays, namely a MARAUDING attacking midfield player with licence to roam. England play in a much more disciplined and tactical way, meaning the Lampard/Barry combo is probably better.

Gerrard suffered horrendously under Eriksson and Maclaren because they were OBSESSED with their quest to prove to the World that England could accommodate both Lampard AND Gerrard.

Hopefully Capello seems to understand that it's not necessarily the best 11 players, but is certainly the best TEAM that is required.

I don't buy this 'can't be arsed for England' stuff either. I think all the players are immensely proud of pulling on the shirt but it's the way they have been instructed to play, coupled with the INSANE amount of pressure heaped on them from the media that has given rise to some of the timid performances we have seen over the past couple of years.

Gerrard is a superb footballer but he has to accept that he will ALWAYS be accommodated by Liverpool but only SOMETIMES for England.

Not at all-shame you can't ever post anything about Gerrard other than your normal biased garbage. If you truly believe that he doesn't play against some of the most technically gifted players every week in the Premier League the you are truly naiive-plus of course he excels in the Champions League regularly. But of course, Champions League football is not the highest level where the World's best players play.

If you actually watch when Lampard & gerrard play in the same side it does'nt matter how available Lampard makes himself Gerrard will not pass the ball to him, He'd rather try & play 50/60yard passes around the pitch than play a simple ball to Lampard.

But if he was THAT good wouldn't England set up the team to utilise all his talents? Wouldn't he be the first name on the team sheet, and then the rest of the team built around him? The fact he's just one cog in a fairly dull team is surely an indictment of how poor he is at the highest level.

i would suggest champions league football is a better standard than international football. there, the best teams have actual TEAMS playing for each other. arsenal gel better than any other team on earth when playing well. i am 100% sure that man united/chelsea etc would outplay and beat any national side.

with international teams it is just a group of people from the same country meeting up every month or so. they are just chucked together and expected to perform. and more often that not, it results in dull and disappointing dross.
