Well having watched the BBC report I can see absolutely NOTHING that would be worthy of jail for. I'm just about the most placid person you could meet and hate aggressive people who go out to have a scrap but you would see exactly that incident in every town in the country every weekend.

seriously then, how would you punish him if he is found guilty. bearing in mind hes supposed to be some kind of role model. throwing a fist at someone can be lethal, as i seem to remember a few weeeks ago in eastbourne. maybe he should say sorry publicly, say a page spread in a newspaper, stressing that what he did was out of order. problem is he probably wouldnt mean it.

the fella got a cut lip and a few bruises. Much as I think Gerrard is a Weapons Grade C unt, and its out of order they mobbed up on him, but this is still all a bit grassy in my eyes.

Unless they're holding back some CCTV footage that's only been seen in court, there's not much there that supports him battering the guy 'like a boxer' is there?

You see an indistinct, distant figure throw out one fairly half-hearted punch, with no idea what else was happening or being said.

If I was on the jury, I just wouldn't find that convincing enough.

'like a boxer'.

how many boxers start throwing uppercuts at someone only after their mate has thrown 14 stone of elbow in their opponents face first. cowardly, from what I see.

No surprise from someone who puts on tears when england get knocked out a tournament but never turns up when it counts. the bloke is worth nothing, decent player he may be but as a man he is worth f*** all, as this case is proving.

But have you found out who is on the jury?

Kate McCann
Gerry Marsden
Phil Thompson
Cilla Black
One of the McGann brothers who was born in Scouseland
Ringo Starr
Sammy Lee
Tony Booth
The Banker who never wears a mac in the pouring rain (very strange)
and the programme seller from the Kop

Hahahaha, eeh but, our Cilla's Everton like, ah-rice?

That question has already been asked by the prosecution.

In reply the DJ, has said that his previous lawyer contacted Gerrards with a view to settling out of court, but he changed his solicitors.

The fact that the man is a Man United fan is completely irrelevant. It's difficult to see from the CCTV footage what's exactly going on, but Gerrard made a statement in the police station saying he hit man, missed twice because he believed he was going to be hit.

I didn't say it does. What i'm saying is this happens everywhere and normally the Police wouldn't even get called, let alone someone get charged and end up in court.

But the police were called, so I'm not exactly sure what your point is.

The bloke lost a tooth (or part of one), not exactly something the Police are going to walk away from especially with the ample CCTV evidence avaliable ?

No doubt Liverpool's solicitor will smooth things over nicely. A healthy sum in damages to the injured party, and a tiny slap on the wrist for Gerrard. Its the Premier League way.

aggravated assault = 6 months which in real terms means a jail sentence of 56 days.

A charge of affray isn't against a single person, it's a public order offence.

The in-house legal expert is out of town, but seeing as he hasn't been charged with assault I'm not exactly sure how damages could be the case here.

I'm sure you're right, but I'm also sure that money will change hands somewhere down the line to ensure the best possible outcome.
