I am no expert, however footage that is being shown by the news channels of Gerrard striking that guy. Is it enough to see Gerrard being jailed ?

It looks bad to me, even if he has no previous, it could mean porridge for a few weeks

Also, he should never play for England again after his prison sentence.

Do you ever engage that dormant organ between your ears?

maybe its the footage ive seen is cut/eddited but i can t see that you can identify who hit who, him and his mate look too similar at the distance.

also, i thought its a bit off how the prosecution have gone at it. the judege directed the jury to ignore any football alligences yet the prosecution where allowed to make reference to profeesion several times, which seems immaterial to the case. i'll be interested to see if "punched like a boxer" bites them as he isnt a boxer and if one of the co-defendants is/was, that sort of provides reasonable doubt.

all because some bloke wouldnt play his playlist,(if thats correct) what a total pratt! how do you punish him? if they jail him he will be back in liverpool and england shirt before we know it, monetary fine would hardly give him sleepless nights, death penalty anyone!

I was involved in a similar incident in my previous pub where some idiot who was already banned come in the premises and decided to hit me and my wife. Some 8 months on we attended crown court in Hove. He too was charged with affray and pleaded not guilty. Just as the jury were being sworn in he "done" a deal with the cps brief whereby he pleaded guilty to assault and incitement . This was agreed to by myself as the cps brief explained affray is hard to prove. Basically the cps has to prove that the accused deliberately entered the building with a predemtermined objective to carry out a disturbance. This appeared plausible to me, and though I believe the idiot that attacked me did so with predetermination, proving this would have been hard. In Gerrard's case I can see him getting off on such a technicality.

The idiot who hit me is being sentenced on 24th July so I will soon know the outcome, he has been told to expect some time inside as this wasn't his first offence.

Affray carries double the maximum sentence to assault so Gerrard could go down and a good job to. You do not need thugs like that when you are trying to run a business.

Watchin the boats go by
Well having watched the BBC report I can see absolutely NOTHING that would be worthy of jail for. I'm just about the most placid person you could meet and hate aggressive people who go out to have a scrap but you would see exactly that incident in every town in the country every weekend.
