Nor have I even started to be "prosecution, judge and jury", unli

If you really want to pick holes, you state "the law in this case, Common Law"-well sorry to burst your balloon but you're the one who is wrong here, as neither the offence of common assault (which Gerrard is not charged with) nor the offence of affray (which he is) are common law offences, they are statutory ones.

But you know, carry on...

Why say I was offended? I never been offended in my life.

Secondly the barrister I referred to was no friend but working for the cps in my case. I met him in morning and said goodbye in the afternoon.

Common assault is common law and that only covers threat not battery, assault has been argued as statutory and includes battery. Judges summaries have highlighted this.

busily blowing up my balloon

Gerrard's appearance in the box today may well have done as much harm as good to his case - he apologised, for one thing, which does hint, at least, that he's got something to be sorry for. As for the self defence line, the CCTV shows the victim being attacked, without any obvious provocation, by one of Gerrard's mates, and Gerrard then follows him in. Why would anyone launch an out-of-the-blue attack on Gerrard when he's surrounded by a gang of his scally mates?

Wouldn't bet against him getting off, though, for two reasons. One, the Scouse jury. Two, his QC is John Kelsey-Fry. I watched him at close hand for several weeks at the Old Bailey a couple of years ago, and he is a quite brilliant operator. His voice alone is worth paying money to hear: rich, deep, almost hypnotic. He commands attention like a great actor, but he's thinking quicksilver thoughts all the time too.

The jury couldn't get enough of him. Probably costs a grand for 15 minutes, but if you're Gerrard, he's worth every penny.

By all accounts the word on the street is that Stevie G and his missus have two kids but the first one isn’t his, cos she was getting about for a bit.

Of course he denies that, and the cd that was playing was a song relating to the fact the kid isn’t his, but the d.j was playing it over and over and over, which is why he laid into him.

Yep - the jury took an hour to decide that he acted in self defence. ???

Correct decision, now we can all move on from this hulaballoo and Stevie G can get him prepared for the forthcoming EPL season.

What a joke. What would you have to do to be found guilty of affray? Oh yes. Be someone normal.
