There is a wide line between ensuring there is no trouble and causing trouble. These idiots well and truly crossed it yesterday. No-one wants to go to a game and be treated like they are under suspicion.

The stewards seem to think they are the main act.

A whole new attitide is needed when those that are meant to be there to protect our safety start causing trouble. A whole new re-think is needed for the Amex. They need to change their outlook.

I've sat near Steve for the whole time we've been playing at Withdean. Yes our area of E Block can get quite vocal at times but yesterday we were all fairly quiet. I can't believe the steward's reaction as Steve did absolutely nothing wrong. About five of them were staring at us from the running track for what seemed like half an hour.

Steve's a true die-hard Albion fan and I believe deserves an apology from the club ASAP.

He is well known to everyne in that area by sight. I don't think I have ever agreed with him (he is vocal) but he has a passion for the Albion.

An apology should be given, as you say, ASAP.

A complete rethink of the stewarding is needed.

I would charge the stewards with wasting police time for a start.

Next home game will be pepper spray and batten charges by the police and stewards and rightly so. There is NO place in football for bad language.

I was in Block D and to be honest I didn't notice the stewards until this little outburst. However seeing as the man concerned was not being threatening in anyway was it really necessary to have a gaggle of stewards augmented but several Police ? What a farce, those stewards sure know how to look stupid.

I was sitting high up behind him and what made him stand out was he was the only bloke standing up every now and again venting his opinion. The place was like a f***ing morgue today for the first hour, and with only him standing up intermittently, the stewards no doubt noticed this/him...

With about fifty stewards and law basically watching a passive crowd, they feel the need to earn their corn, and laddo was on the receiving end, unfortunately for him...

But when they spend their time pointing, calling for reinforcements, conferring, sending for the Chief Steward, pointing again, conferring again, doing nothing for ten minutes, conferring again, sending four of their number up two staircases, escorting one person out, conferring again, pointing somewhere else, dispersing, reassembling ....

... it's very intrusive and spoils the game for the hundreds of us who don't want to be watching a performance like that, but have no choice in the matter.

Normally I can't be doing with the steward baiting but as someone in the front of D Block, I feel I must add a "This". And I missed the build up to their goal because of people standing up to see what was going on.

this is one of the reasons why fans do not like going to matches any longer, football has been sanitized, not only on the pitch but in the stands now.
Stands they call them everyone sitting quietly (and listening yesterday it was like a morgue)WTF has happened to the game in the days of the 60's 70's we were still horse after going to the game and I'v no doubt all those in the east terrace were too in fact most of the crowd shouted themselves silly with the odd expletive that was what football was about.
not the sanitized game of today Oh yes you do have the odd game Wolves v Newcastle yesterday in an example of a good old blood and thunder game.

In H block I have become quite pally with the a "few" stewards over the years and when you get talking to some they are very hasty to slag off the policies they have. The stewards have unique to the Withdean stadium laws to follow so I am fine to let them get on with it however, I truly hate the way they operate, plotting and sending up waves of them like they are Roman f***ing soldiers. It is ridiculous.

I don't know if you remember the 0-0 Tuesday night game against Northampton between Adams getting sacked and Slade's appointment? It was the worst game I have ever witnessed, I turned up 10 minutes late, spent the WHOLE first half watching the Hills have Eyes on my I-pod, then at half time Chief f*** head pulled me over for persistent standing? I nearly collapsed with laughter! He said he had been watching me for 3 ears and decided this was the right time for a little chat like he was in the bloody Sopranos. Get a life! 3 YEARS.

4 Stewards then followed me up and down the running track at half time like I was bloody Bin Laden, all I did was watch my I-pod and drink fecking Bovril and when I complained they said I may be banned! Ridiculous.
