A mate of mine e mailed Fat Boy Slim the other day about doing a gig for Wrexham (cheeky!).

A joint gig for us both would be better, we want to give something back to you

To answer a question and clear up a misconception: Yes, mrhairy the main writer of Fade to Grey was Lancing's very own Chris Payne who was the keyboard player with Gary Numan (Tubeway Army as was). A couple of other people from here know him as well (Phaedrus, Attila and oapdodge). Yes, you're correct: myself, Chris, Phaedrus and oapdode all used to play cricket for Lancing Manor. Chris and I are still writing stuff together, indeed we have our own record label.

Ned, Steve Strange had no input into the writing of Fade to Grey. It was originally written by Chris and Billy Currie (Ultravox) to celebrate the fact they weren't going to work together ever again (Billy used to play live with Numan as they needed two keyboard players). Midge Ure re-wrote the tune (as Chris's original one was crap) and the words. And it was written in my house! I used to have a silver disc commemorating that fact but managed to lose it in my last move.

Yes! It's actually quite short now. The vain bugger dyes it though! He lives in France now, married to a Frenchwoman and they've got two kids.
