I think BG talks quite a lot of sense on here sometimes BUT then like al lot of us do, including myself he goes off on a Tangent with some of his posts and says the weirdest things, although I must concede. BG does do the''wierd'' better than any of us..............Sorry BG

Have you asked Chris about Jloyd yet?

BG is way behind Perseus when it comes to weird. BG is just a daft old fool while somehow the nut house lets Perseus have Internet from his padded cell.

Unfortunately I just cannot agree with this. March and Goldson (two players who many would claim have been stand outs in the time they've played) have got into the team this season due to circumstance i.e. injuries. They may have stayed in on merit, but that's not a positive reflection on CH, rather it shows what young players can do when given the chance to prove themselves over a sustained period of time.

It's also hard to argue that competition has been fostered at the club. You can go to any Brighton match right now and pick the team beforehand knowing that it'll be the same one that CH picks. Basically he does the opposite of foster competition - he plays the same 11 until injuries or suspensions take their toll and then he brings in the back up player for a game or two (or however long they're needed) which rarely has a positive impact, nor does it allow said back up player to thrive usually.

I think you make very good points both with the youngsters and then starting eleven. It didn't feel like that at the beginning of the season. 3 CB had competition the WB had competition with Rosenior and the strikers had competition with Zamora. The team kept on winning so the starting line up remained the same. Effectively picking itself.

March did get his chance and he eventually played the best he has ever played for this club.

I think CH has also got the best out of Lua Lua and Stephens. But this I feel is due to excellent partnerships with Bong and Kayal. Which is a different point.

This ignores the fact that with a fully fit squad...

We didn't know who was first choice out of Uwe or Dunk. We now have Goldson to add into the mix.

We liked to mix up the formation with Rosenior often used in midfield instead of a winger. March was effectively 4th choice during that period.

We now have LuaLua, Knockaert and Murphy - our squad wasn't strong enough at the beginning of the season to rotate wingers.

Wilson has been on the bench lately with Zamora starting instead. The strikers have been rotated on a regular basis even without Baldock.

In short, the squad wasn't competitive enough to rotate at first and then carried too many injuries to allow us to do so, but now we've strengthened in key positions it is - we might even be able to rest Kayal or Stephens, something previously unthinkable.

That Goldson and March got in because of injuries is not something to have a dig at Hughton with, more a reason to praise their performances.

I only read about Sidwell signing in the Bleader today. A lot of Fulham fans were hoping he'd sign for us, although to be honest, I think our midfield is ok at the moment. He's certainly a passionate, battling player and can score the odd good goal. However, when he gets skinned or robbed he has a tendency to chase the player down and then hack him down. He appeared to get on well with Stockdale at the Cottage.

With a defence that leaks goals like yours you probably need a player who chases back and hacks an opposition player down !
