Decent. Going to have a hell of a lot of players with no PL experience. Just what the midfield and the team as a whole needs.
Good stuff, keeps the song alive for a while longer.
His experience will be useful next year.
Looking old. He's got more lines than a ploughed field.
Not harsh, he wasn't deemed good enough for the Prem 2 seasons ago, that's why he dropped down to us to get a game, and even then he was behind Kayal and Stephens.
And yet he had a far better season than Beram and therefore played a lot more games.
He's a good defensive sub too.
We'll have to disagree. He certainly wasn't behind Kayal last season. Often he formed a very effective partnership with Stephens.
Only Rosenior and Sidwell have PL experience.
Apart from David Stockdale, Glenn Murray and Shane Duffy, yes.
And Bruno in La Liga.
And Bong in Ligue 1.
And Hünemeier in the Bundesliga.
Not harsh, he wasn't deemed good enough for the Prem 2 seasons ago, that's why he dropped down to us to get a game, and even then he was behind Kayal and Stephens.
I wasn't going to bother with other leagues, but yes, those too.
(And Maenpaa in the Eredivisie, Bong in the Greek Superleague, Skalak in the Czech L1 and Kayal in the (don't laugh) SPL...
Brighton midfielder Steve Sidwell signs a new one-year contract with the newly-promoted Premier League club.
Sidwell made 34 league appearances last season as the Seagulls returned to the top flight after a 34-year absence.
The 34-year-old joined Brighton on an initial loan deal from Stoke in January 2016, before joining the club on a free transfer ahead of last season.
And he will probably be even further behind Kayal and Stephens next season. I expect him to start even fewer games. Nevertheless though, such an important player to have in and about the dressing room. Has played more Premier Leage games than anyone at the club. His input could be crucial, as we step into the unknown.
I've no issue that we offered him a new 1 year deal, and if we change system for the PL and play 3 across the middle then we do need some more midfielders, but I just hope this is all it is, a backup if we are injury ravaged or for Milk Cup games, or whatever its called now.
