Steve Earle & The Dukes at the Brighton Dome on 30th October. Find out what all the fuss is about by seeing him yourself. Never made a bad album. Never repeats a style, like Neil Young, Springsteen, Bowie, something different every time through country, rock, singer songwriter, hiphop influences,South American rhythms. The Dukes are rougher edged, think Crazy Horse, but will be softened by sixth wife Alison Moore and possibly Sara Watkins, virtuoso genius fiddle player from Nickel Creek. Try a little something different from your usual taste by an evening with the best fiery folk punk original troubador of his generation. And his last album was produced by T-Bone Burnett possibly the true followup to Raising Sand-Robert Plant & Alison Krauss. Be there guys.:clap2:

oooooh I am tempted.

If you like your Country music without the cliches this is for you, check out "John Walker's blues" and conjure up a mental image of all the rednecks choking on their Bud when they heard the lyrics. Remember buying "Guitar Town" on vinyl when it first came out, he has had an "interesting" life and his biography is worth a read.

Me too.
Can't say I'm a big, big fan of his, but this one is possibly worth the ticket price alone (IMO of course)

This is too important to languish on page 2.

If one of you clever chaps could upload 'Waitin on the sky' from the new album that would be even better. Surely the most rocking mandola you'll ever hear!

Love Steve Earle but saw him at Cambridge a few years ago, so spaced out and a disaster. Amy Winehouse last month reminded me!

I saw him the last time he played at The Dome. It was rubbish. Whilst his wife is highly desirable, she could never have got a recording contract on musical ability alone. I used to really like Copperhead Road and one or two others, but I cetainly won't be seeing him at The Dome. I don't think that it's appropriate to mention him in the same breath as the likes of Jackson Browne, Springsteen, Neil Young, Dylan & Bruce Cockburn.

Each to their own taste wise, but I think you'll find Alison Moorer did indeed get a recording contract on musical ability alone. Her first MCA album was in 1998, long before she met Mr Earle, and the gorgeous 'A Soft place to Fall' featured in 'The Horse Whisperer' earning an Academy Award nomination.

Never seen him live (heard good and bad), but he does make consistently fine records...Transcendental Blues is one of the all time greats.

Mrs SNG got her tickets a couple of weeks ago. P.S. she has also seen Jackson Browne,Dylan,Neil Young and especially Springsteen(over 10 times!) So he should attract people with similar tastes rather than saying someone is better than the other just enjoy someone different. She's also going to Todd Rundgren up at the Lounge Cafe in Camden in October showing her varied love of great musicians.
