RVN is such a strange appointment. Admittedly, I'm guessing here but if Ten Haag doesn't get sacked and RVN doesn't take over for the grand total of 4 games he's not even given a second thought let alone gets the job.

What a way to run a multi million pound business. No wonder we look shrewd in comparison.

Very unfair on Micky. He’s a good man and genuinely cared about Brighton, he loved his time here. He did a brilliant job too in his first spell and was a good manager at that time.

First time around he was brilliant, second time a bit of a disaster imo

I'm not sure it's that strange when you look at the history of football. It's the kind of left field but big name appointment clubs like to make to get fans back on side after the previous appointment wasn't a popular one.

RVN has managed before as he was first team manager at PSV for a season a couple of years ago, before strangely quitting just before the last game of the season. If he'd come straight over to a lower league PL club from the Dutch league I don't think anyone would question it.

That said I'm not sure its going to end well, it's a huge difference managing a Leicester City from managing on of the three biggest clubs in the Netherlands and being assistant/interim manager at United.

Really? Publicly expressing disappointment that he hadn’t been offered a PL job whilst he was still our manager does not sit well with me

Of course he was ambitious but I am not a fan of managers touting themselves in the media when they already have a job.

He hadn’t taken us as far as he could either, as proved when Peter Taylor took over and took us up another division.

The fact that he left us to take up an assistant manager’s job suggests to me that he thought that he deserved better than us too, how many other managers have done this?

He really is. I've put a few stories on here over the years about him being a good bloke personally so won't repeat them but as well as what you've said and his achievements on the pitch first time around, he also did his bit in the fight for the new stadium.

Don't understand criticism of him, he's an important part of our history as far as I'm concerned.

You are right, instrumental in our revival and first time around he put together a great squad which was fantastic to watch given what had gone before. I just never warmed to him.

I work with a lad who was managed by Micky during his spell managing Sligo over in Ireland… he couldn’t speak more highly of him and told me he was an absolute top bloke/coach… some great stories beyond that, which I can’t repeat here

Van Nistelrooy managed Man Utd for four games. He won three and drew one. I've just realised that two of his wins were against Leicester: 5-2 in the EFL Cup and 3-0 in the EPL. Have to presume that this influenced Leciester's owners decision and that, when he became free, they may have dumped Cooper with the specific aim of getting him in. It's a rather small sample and he had a billion pound squad at his disposal.

I suspect you and @Flounce both have a point. One can be a very nice person and also do things that piss people off.
