Funny you should say that as when I was listening to his interview the other day I felt that if it were the manager of my club then I would be disappointed. I know it's a big move for any manager but it felt like he would be loathed to stay if he didn't get it.

But also the lack of investment in playing staff will not have helped him wanting to stay

I'd loathe to manage Hull too to be fair

a manager will always take a job, no matter how ridiculous the owners are, just look at leeds n gary monk, he needed a job and took leeds even though he had previously bashed the leeds regime

Not true.............I know at least 3 jobs that CH turned down because of the financial predicament the club were in at that time

theres always exceptions but by a rule most managers wont turn down making a living just because the owner is a dick, its a already made excuse for them, every leeds, blackpool etc manager of recent time can go ''ofc i wasnt successful, the owner is a nutter'' but they still make very good money for their troubles

You would assume that if Giggs did take over he'd want someone who he was used to working with and who knows the club, so Mike Phelan to continue in his current role there would make a lot of sense. Beyond them it's the common bunch of names ie McLaren, Martinez and Warnock.

Given that Hull are currently down to about 13 fit players, haven't made a signing all summer and have an owner who wants to sell up because he can't get his own way and rebrand them as the Hull City Tigers, I would mark Hull down as near enough certainties to go straight back down at the end of the season.

Can't see Ryan Giggs taking on the Hull job. One nugget of advice his old manager will have imparted to him will be "choose your chairman/owner carefully". Given that the owner there clearly wants out and therefore won't invest in the team, that will be a job left well alone for a managerial rookie who doesn't want to damage any future employment prospects.

Swansea should be OK. I think given the way they dropped like a stone last season and then got rid of their manager, Watford will be in the relegation mix.

Good to see so many already writing Burnley off as cannon fodder next season - Dyche and the club thrive as underdogs and like to prove the so-called experts wrong. Maybe they will be relegated next season, but the bookies have been wrong before about us - notably in 2013/14 and again in 2015/16.

I;m more confident we will stay up this time around than I was two seasons ago..........Sunderland have had their plans seriously disrupted and Bruice as just walked out of Hull who only just scraped promotion anyway.

Under the smug and smarmy Howe, Bournemouth have lost some momentum while West Brom, Palace, Swansea and Watford are no world-beaters.

Last but not least......Middlesbrough. We held our nerve to overcome a huge points deficit in the second half to finish comfortably above Karanka's men who nervously stumbled over the finish line after losing to mighty Rotherham and Charlton in the run-in.

Boro may have splashed out on some "big names" like they did with game-changer Downing last season, but our group of journeyman finished ahead of Steve Gibson's troops for the SIXTH time in the last SEVEN seasons. The only time Boro finished above us in this period was in 2011/12.......and it was NO coincidence at all that it was half-hearted Howe's only full season at Turf Moor.
