Stephens deserves to be remembered for his part in the promotion season and for his pass out to Knockaert for the winner at Palace two seasons ago.

He deserves to be remembered for far more than that. We wouldn't have stayed in the division without him.
A crucial player for us, from Day one.

If any of this is true, he will be missed.
That's not to say that the time isn't right for him to go.

Bissouma and Alzate are our starting pair in centre-midfield and I would fully understand Stephens looking to go somewhere, where he is guaranteed more game time.

Why would we allow that !!? We might as well keep him. They need to pay up or p1ss off.

Two reasons - one, if Stephens wants to go we'll let him, and two, we'll get exactly the same amount of money from Burnley if we loan for a season or sell him. The only material difference is that Burnley won't have to commit to a 3 year contract for him from the outset.

I put Burnley in my bottom six before the season started.... with Fulham..WBA...Villa...Palace and Sheff Utd. I am now thinking that Villa ( after some impressive strengthening ) may improve and watching yesterday, Southampton may replace them. Palace have come out the blocks on fire...not sure it will last...but if it does...replace them with Newcastle. ( I've got us at 13th )
Personally, I think this may be one season too far for Burnley and they could be bottom 3 candidates ( particularly if Tark goes ) Dyche may be considering Stephens as an insurance player, if they were to go down. Very solid at second tier level. Would be sorry to see him go. He has been a good servant and is still a worthy back-up. Hope it doesn't happen now. January would probably be better.

No. There is no reporting.
He came off injured against Portstmouth which explains his absence from the squad yesterday.
Do Burnley need another midfielder ?

TBF - the Sunday Mirror reported on this yesterday "preparing a bid" so i was mistaken re: reporting - and lets face it Burnley have the thinnest squad in the Division so obviously could do with strengthening.

Indeed! and fondly remembered for standing on stage singing 'Burnley's a sh*thole' at the promotion parade

With a heavy heart but he knows what’s what I guess.
Well done Dale.

Will break tomorrow no doubt

Can't be arsed to read the whole thread. Where did you get this from? There is absolutely nothing searchable on this.

If you're genuinely ITK, can you update on whether we'll singe Brewster?

Yes, they need to replace Hendrick.

I've no idea if this is happening or not.

But the OP does not have a history like the 'Tom and Jerry' poster of winding people up with 5pm 'juicy news'.

750k? I know he's 31, but he's worth more than that imho. Would've thought 2-3 million at least.

You're probably right but if this particular lie happens to be actually true then I guess all the other factors come into play:-

- Wages off the payroll.
- Contract length.

& probably most importantly

- The club tends to not stand in the way when a long standing servant leaves.
(as it should be)
