Stephen Dobbie - Talisman? Should he be our water boy?

2010 On loan to Blackpool, played in the Final, scored in the second leg, Blackpool promoted.

2011 Back with Swansea, played in the Final, scored in the final, Swansea promoted.

Footballers are a superstitious lot by their own admission, surely we wouldn't want him lurking around on a protracted loan elsewhere would we?

I dont know what message it would send out even if we could recall him for the final also if he played in the semis for Palace could he be named in our squad for the final. I thought that the idea of the 2 week break in his loan was so that he would be eligible for the play offs for Palace

He's on-loan to Palace until June 30th and signs for them permanently the next day.

Good riddance.

The deal is he can't play against us in the playoff semis, but can against anyone else.

He cannot play at all in the final, regardless of who it is against.

Is that correct? Surely he just can't play against us?

I was under the impression he can't play in the play offs full stop.

Don't know if anyone else notice but the football league show bloke covering the palace highlights couldn't get his tongue out Dobbies arse.

Basically his loan officially ends before the final and he cannot sign for us as he has already played for two clubs etc so he cannot play for us again until the new season.

So essentially his loan expires at the end of the league season and the pay offs are deemed to be outside of this arrangement. By default then we could have him back and name him as that sub that will not get on or leave him in limbo.
Either works for me! As long as he isn't involved his talismanic magic would be held in limbo.

This is correct.

Technically he is a palace player for the semis ( but he cannot play v us ), and a Brighton player for the final ( but won't [ cannot? ] play for us ).

Neither side can back out of the deal for Palace to sign him on July 1st.

Why wasn't the deal to include him playing in the final?

Because it was impossible under the rules due to maximum length of initial loan being 93 days. This could be in chunks of > 28 days, but the last chunk had to start before the loan window shut, meaning there was no way the playoff final could be covered by it, as the initial loan chunk started on Jan 31st.

Complicated, and hard to explain without a calendar, but the dates just couldn't be made to work to include the final.
