I remember when England selected either Ray Clemence or Peter Shilton in goal. Both equally good and equally competitive. Which I assume is why De Zerbi rotates Verbruggen and Steele. Firstly, to keep them on their toes and be competitive as well, secondly, so they both experience first team football on a regular basis should they be called on at short notice.

I’m quite sure RDZ will take on board the comments about his selection and tactics not working, and it being to our detriment. No doubt he will be asking you to join his coaching team and value your input

Clearly JS is becoming a divisive player here. His ability on the ball is undeniable.
I don't know if he genuinely is just a freak with the ball at his feet and i suspect the suggestion no other GK could do it is a bit naive. We've no idea how other GKs would perform playing the way RDZ does.
But I do know two things.
Firstly both statistically and just by using your eyes JS isn't a top level GK when it comes to shot stopping, aerially etc.
Secondly, and most importantly, rotating GKs feels even more detrimental to a teams rhythm and a players confidence than any outfield position.
So for me this isn't on either GK.
On the one hand you've got a player who for most of his career has been bang average, who's had an almost miraculous turnaround in his footballing fortunes and is brilliant on the ball and on the other you have a very young but very highly rated player who probably has a better all round game but doesn't 'get' RDZ quite as much. It's a difficult choice but being a manager is about making difficult choices.
For all of RDZs many plusses I can't help but think this has been one of his big mistakes.
How much better would we be doing in a season where we've done really well if at the start of the season he'd taken one of them into his office and said 'you're my man this year'? It's difficult to know. But because of the Raya/Ramsdale thing, every ex pro seemed to be saying rotating GKs is crazy and no other manager does it. Even Arteta quickly stuck with one (despite the fact many Arsenal fans I know rate AR more highly).

Many on here were hoping that all this rotation would eventually bring a kind of zen like fluidity to our play. That by this time in the season any player could come in to any position seamlessly.
That doesn't appear to have happened. That isn't just because of RDZs rotation. We've been decimated by injury. Cam P coming in and looking like one of our average youth teamers who's hardly played with the first team happened because Cam P is an average youth teamer who's hardly played with the first team.
Similarly, GKs having periods of looking like they've hardly played with the players ahead of them (and we have spells of this many games this year) happens because that is what it is too.

The same can be said for Webster. If there's anything we know about him it's that he needs a few games to get up to speed. He won't get that here now, not least because in his case he is actually down the pecking order. How can a player who is notorious for being slow to find form find any if he only plays once a month?

Tldr- ire directed at the players feels a little unfair. Injuries, increased games, the obvious workload in both training and matches under RDZ and his obsession with rotation are all a recipe for inconsistency. Ultimately we take it because RDZ has unquestionably taken us to another level. It is what it is.

The second part wasn’t aimed at you. Yes, I admit it was sarcastic so apologies if it offended. I got the hump because of the following : We lost to Wolves, I had a sleepless night, I’m grumpy, I overreacted to posts that I would normally just ignore and the weather is shit. Bit of a blunder last night by Steele, but he is a good goalkeeper and every keeper has mistakes on them, it is a team effort and the chance should have been snuffed out earlier. Webster was not terrible last night, I think folks are frustrated with so much possession in the game and a negative result and are looking for easy scapegoats and sadly these two team players for the Albion are it, when we should be be looking at the collective for the lack of bite.

I totally agree. They're very different conundrums but if RDZ is here in September it's hard to imagine Webster being here too.

Have to agree with your last paragraph all football forums discuss owners/managers/tactics. In fact many fans can see what’s not working before the manager finally gets it. How many had that oh ffs when the team sheet was released I certainly did. Two minutes in and he’s flapping like a sheet in the wind.
